Gay Love. Butt seriously, I wouldn't hate the idea, but i'd explore other options first. Like almost every other option. I just don't think he is that good of a player. Imo he is an empty stats guy, who is a possible cancer. Memphis, and Toronto both got a lot better when he left l.

Rudy Gay would likely flourish as the 4th option in the Cavs offense. I just don't see any downsides to such a deal.

I agree and while he would probably also start at the 2 (hello size advantage) I definitely think he would be seeing a ton of minutes playing with the second unit and just run amok on the opposing teams bench players. let's say we get Gay and he starts. he gets taken out with 6 minutes to go and is replaced by Shumpert. he is subbed in at the beginning of the second with Delly, JR, TT and Moz. that would absolutely kill the other team.

Just said the exact same thing in the offseason thread. Put him in a role where no one is watching him, and he his head wont get in his way.

Cant wait for the Cavs version of this. I hope their lockers are next to each other.

"Hey Rudy, come to a championship contender and get paid $12 mil just to be a fourth option. Your shots may go down, but you get a ring and still get your astronomical paycheck. Hell, atleast its better than Sacramento".- David Griffin

No reason he wouldnt want to, but Sac will want something. It wont be a straight salary dump.

So it seems for some reason, the Kings want Rondo....not really sure why. If so a trade of Gay for Haywood would create plenty of space on top of what they already have.

I'm just not too sure they really need to give up Gay to do that and I'm not sure anyone would want Rondo after what happened on Dallas.

On the other hand, I don't think Cousins will be going anywhere and will get what he wants, to include Karl being let go.

Haywood, Miller and Harris could get us Gay & Collison. That way Sacramento could dump $17.4M of salary and have to keep only $3.4M. It makes no sense from a talent standpoint, but would give them significant room to sign Rondo (which I think is crazy - wouldn't touch him at all).

Also, if we were to sign #24, we could package it, Haywood, Miller & Harris for Gay and Jason Thompson. Sacramento would love to get rid of Thompson. That way they would dump $18.8M of salary and keep only $4.6M.

Would much rather have gay than wade. I'd keep starting Shump/JR though.

Gay could be our version of iggy off the bench, it would be better cause I don't see where the shoots will come from if he starts.

Seems too good to be true.

Lets hope the Kings trade Cousins then so we can get the ball rolling :)

Nah.

Not gonna happen...

Gay could be our version of iggy off the bench,

Definitely not. ;)

Iggy is a facilitator, elite defender, and allows Steph to play a Ray Allen role on offense. Rudy Gay would provide none of those things.

He'd simply be a consistent scoring option that can create his own shot and keep opposing defenses honest. He also allows James to move to the guard position or power forward position, interchangeably, without giving up size. We would have immense roster/lineup flexibility with Rudy on the team.

it would be better cause I don't see where the shoots will come from if he starts.

Starting together doesn't mean playing together for extended minutes. But Gay is a legit threat from behind the arc (.345 career average).

That 34.5% is as a first option for the majority of his career, and second option the rest. Imagine him as the fourth option, with nobody on him. He is an incredible talent, and I hope we can add him, if we can't add Wade, Cousins, or Batum.

If I had told you guys we could have a roster with LeBron, Love, Kyrie, and Rudy Gay, a year ago, you would have laughed in my face. It may just be a reality now.
