Rudy Gay

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Congratulations to Rudy Gay now that the Supreme Court says he can get married. I wonder who the lucky lady will be.

*Also don't trade for Rudy Gay pls*

I'd take Rudy and hope for an turn back the clock Iggy moment when we need him most.

Imagine that. Gay is an incredible talent when a guy like LeBron James is in charge. We'd be maxing out Gay's potential and focus. This is a high reward type of move for a damn sure.

Hopefully that noise of Haywood/Bradley is just BS. Gay is a target we need to spell LeBron.

I'd be thrilled with either Gay or Bradley. Bradley is basically what we all hoped Dion would grow into without ANY of the headache...great on-ball defender who can be effective in catch-and-shoot situations while still possessing an above-average midrange game. He also is effective off the dribble going to the hoop. He would be a great addition at the 2, while also being able to play a bit of PG. Only knock on him is his size but a defensive lineup with him and delly would be effective.

I really don't understand the Gay & Iggy comparisons. Iggy didn't turn back any clock, he is just a great matchup on LBJ. Good size, strength, and just athletic enough to stay in front of him. This "Iggy resurgence" was somewhat created by us. We hardly guarded him on defense and he took advantage of it. if our main focus of the series was to shut down Iggy, his stats would've looked incredibly pedestrian.

Gay would provide an immediate scoring punch off the bench, making our second team incredibly deep. He'd also be effective in small-ball lineups. My only concern regarding Gay is how willing he is to accept a smaller role. This is the guy who was touted as one of the next big stars 4 years ago but with his streaky shooting, it never really came to light.

Regardless, acquiring either one of these players would make for a much better off-season than I initially expected.

Agreed, Gay is such a ball stop.

You throw the ball at Gay, and all ball movement seems to be sucked into a black hole.

How would the Cavs offense be any different?

Griff indicated last night that they are getting the best available player with the Haywood contract. He made a point to emphasis that. They are not sacrificing talent here. If Rudy is the best player available hands down, then you do it, and work on fit in camp.

He's also in that 26-30 age range that Griff mentioned.

I'm not too concerned with the ball potentially stopping in his hands. The big difference will be he can actually put the ball in the hole and doesn't need anyone else to create for him.

As mentioned, I'm not sure how many better available options could be had. He's a very good player.

Avery Bradley would be good. He's a good defender, he can play either guard positions. He can shoot the ball pretty well.

But I'd much, much, much rather have Rudy Gay. Not even close.

Bradley could be more realistic though, given the Celtics drafted a guard last night.

Him or Bradley is my sinking suspicion. Maybe Chandler or Mayo?? Those are the "best available options" IMO that address our needs, assuming K-Love is coming back.

To add on to your point. There is this crazy RCF fantasy that we are going to have all these offers like we are in a candy store to chose from. Reality is we may only get one or two real offers by late July. The posters here (some of them vets) that would pass on Gay if he was offered to us today are out of their minds. For the record, I dont think we have enough to make it worth it for Sac to do the deal. But my god some of you are off your rocker not taking a top 30-40 nba player for an expiring deal, kuan and second rounders. Seriously get a hold of yourslelves.

If Mills and either Splitter/Diaw could be had I would seriously have to consider that.

I like Mills and obviously acquiring Splitter would be a huge help but in essence, those are two bench players. Diaw doesn't do much for me. He played great during the Spurs last finals run but he isn't getting any younger and he really isn't that effective at the 5, where we need help.

If Bradley is in the mix, I see us letting Smith walk, which i would be fine with.

No to Mayo. A HELL NO to him. He makes no sense. He's another JR. I don't see any point in getting him.

We don't necessarily need a starter. Moz, Love, LB, Shump, and Kyrie is an outstanding staring 5.

Getting Bradley or Gay is obviously awesome. But we need better depth. We need another defensive center, and a scoring/shooting Mills.

Splitter and Mills couldn't fit those needs better. But I understand, I'd look for best talent available first.

If Griffin is looking for versatility, in the age range of 26-30 and someone who is good and Rudy is available. Pull the damn trigger.

Gay would start as a 2, could spell lebron in 6-8 minute stretches and could work great as a stretch 4 in small ball line ups with Love at C. Plus he creates his own shot, something the Cavs definitely need if either LBJ or KI go down.

Gay is my number one target (no pun intended).

I want him over Wade (even though that's a fantasy).

He can really help in so many areas, and can definitely take loads of pressure off LeBron. He's just a top-notch talent, that can blend so well with this team.

I don't think you hesitate to get him for Haywood's contract/those stash picks.

I don't think its going to happen, because other teams can offer more than that.

I think the most realistic trade might involve the Spurs with Splitter/Mills.

And I'm good with that deal.
