Sacramento Kings

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

Just a thought.. aren't the Kings in a good position to acquire both Paul and Howard?

Tyreke, JJ, filler/draft pick for CP3
Cousins, Jimmer, filler for D12

This is my desperate attempt to get the Kings to the playoffs.

CP3
Thornton
Salmons
Thompson
Dwight

And then Paul and Dwight leave at the end of the year.

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

It's a few years too early for this thread... need their team to mature and the protection to loosen up. I still feel like a lot of people forget Casspi came with the pick.

And what's wrong with getting a top 12 or so pick three or four years from now when our team's more established.

I think a lot of people will forget Casspi is out on the court when he's playing.

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

True but the way they said it with emphasis on one of the worst teams ever. Last time I looked there was a team that finished even worse than the CAVS and they do not rip into them at all. I like most of the articles/ reports on CBS but they did not need to call out my favorite team like that.
Maybe that reporter was a Timberwolves fan?

Here is the quote that pissed me off from Ben Golliver--- "Imagine you're the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers, coming off one of the worst seasons any NBA team has every played."

I think they're referring to that 26 game losing streak. Which is the worst of all time.

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

So many games , this season, will be determined by the schedule that many teams may have a chance that otherwise wouldn't. NBA players don't give defense a thought on the backend of back to backs anyway ..so Sacramento won't look all that bad comparatively. They don't have a bad schedule, and they will pose problems because they do have lots of guys that can score ....I'm hoping for an 8 seed ...not impossible given the way this season is going to roll out.

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

When I think of possible Kings needs I immediately think 6'6 back up Center.

(Insert Street Fighter movie Bison "Of Course!!" meme here)

They need affordable role players in a big sort of way--

True, and they have that pesky cap floor to hit as well. But, how many teams rush out and sign a relatively middling role player early in free agency and wind up regretting it (I'm looking at you John Hammond)?

For their sake maybe they have more moves planned.

The potential craziness of shortened and compressed season is about the only hope they have this year. The Kings may be the only team get into an on court fight amongst themselves over the basketball.

Exactly what I said in my last thread :chuckles:

This looks like they will let Dalembert go, hence Hayes, and resign Thornton, while adding another unimpressive player. Money-strapped Maloofs aren't willing to spend, now they can't move to OC.

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

They needed him, and they paid a lot for it.

Agent: Kings re-sign Marcus Thornton

Guard Marcus Thornton has re-signed with the Sacramento Kings, according to his agent, Tony Dutt.

A source with knowledge of the deal told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard the deal is for $40 million over five years.

Thornton, a two-year veteran out of LSU, was traded from the New Orleans Hornets to the Kings last season in exchange for Carl Landry.

In 27 games with the Kings (23 starts), Thornton averaged 21.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

I'm moving past Marcus Thornton after this, but source close to Kings says this is the deal: four years, $31 million.

Re: Sacramento Kings ROAD-TO-THE-PLAYOFFS watch!

Apparently a Kings TV/radio announcer (Grant Napear) said Kings fans "shouldn't be surprised to see a big name coming to Sacramento as soon as tomorrow." Seems like fans are convinced it would be a free agent signing rather than a trade. He also said the fans would be "excited about the player." http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1142200

If there's anything to this, it's probably some former fan favorite like Bibby or Peja. But for the sake of the Cavs and the Kings 2012 pick, let's pray it's someone like Nene. :chuckles:
