Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If he was given a half-sheet of paper that gives the rubric for grading.... then threw it away without remembering what the paper said... sorry, but nobody here has the expertise to grade it. If the educator was explicit in his expectations, opinions without knowing the rubric are useless.

Certainly not cmstrophe, unless he recently picked up a certification in education from the state of Ohio.

I was just going off of the way it was written plus the information he supplied. As I said, not very well written and the information is pretty shallow. However you're right, it's impossible to really judge it without the rubric.

Please. I've seen enough bullshit rubrics in my time. If he totally missed the point of the assignment (not likely since he already told us the prompt and the paper seems to fit it) I still don't see how it'd garner a 20% in high school.

The only possibility I can think of is lack of citations. But why would any self-respecting teacher not inform the student of this?

You don't need certification in education from the state of Ohio to raise these points, Randolph. Nor do you need one to judge a high school paper, I'll add.

Ummmm, Stark admitted to throwing away the rubric and not remembering what it said when he wrote the paper. I won't comment on the rest. I was just trying to help the kid out, which I think I did successfully.

Yeah, I'm currently taking Government/Economics, Trig/PreCalc, Advanced English III, Spanish III, and Chemistry, and I have mid-high A's in all of those.

These courses are shit. You should have an A in all of them. And you should shoot for an ivy league school if you can handle it.

Ok, enough of the tough love. Good for you for caring, and nice work on your other classes. You probably have one of those cunty R-Keys teachers who grades you more harder [sic] then the idiots next to you because you have such potential and all that "I will challenge you" nonsense. Unfortunately, the teacher is in a position of power. The best play here is to come over the top with your commitment: you book a one-on-one with the teacher, after school, and you ask them to hand you A-grade work with the name blotted out so that you can see what you did wrong. You ask for a redo. You ask for an additional assignment just to have another crack at it. You say that you are serious as a heart attack, and that you will do what it takes to succeed, and nothing besides an A is success. You say that you see this as a challenge that you want to accept, and that nothing would make you happier when you walk in 2 years than to think about how you got off of the mat after being knocked down, and kicked some ass. And then, you offer to suck some cock. Good luck!

All great advice, though he should lead with the cock sucking.

No, no, no, no.

I followed the rubric when I wrote the paper at the beginning of September. I'm not stupid enough to throw away something that important to the assignment, and I did what it asked to the best of my ability. I just have thrown it away since then, and the scores were just posted online today.

I have no idea why I'm the punching bag for some other teacher. I also don't know why natedogg is going after me after I helped him move a couch down 20 flights of stairs the only time I hung out with him. Name me a "cunt" who does that for a stranger under five foot six, you capitalist midget.

Kidding, of course. I actually respect the hell out of nate. But he's short in real life.

Stark, If you followed the half sheet of paper the teacher gave you, again, have a conversation with the teacher.

Alright, thanks for your help Keys.

All I want to do is get in Ohio State. I feel like I'm stressing way too much. :chuckles:

Looks like I was right.

As usual. *troll face*

Erm. If you didn't get in there with a 3.3 you must have had shitty test scores. I slacked off hard in high school and had a 3.0 GPA. I got into a bunch of great schools including OSU because I had a 31 on the ACT. I forget my SAT score but it was high as well.

Even if you get an F in this class, unless you tank your tests you should have no problem getting into OSU. Frankly with your grades I'd aim higher. It's a good school, but with a 4.0 and good test scores you could get into much better schools.

OSU has become more strict, I think. I probably only got in because I was a transfer student. Had a mid 3 GPA in HS and got a 26 on ACT.

You and I are around the same age. When I applied was the first year they really tightened up their standards. I'm pretty sure I got in because of extra curriculars, awesome test scores, and I had a kick ass essay.
