Season ending e-mail from the Tribe

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Pip, we all know your love for the yanks , why come in talk about them or talk about the indians in a negative way? Most of us are fans of the tribe and can complain, but you can care less about them. I think most of us don't want to hear a yanks fan insult the indians.

Yet non Yankees fans only bitch about the one....

Oh gee, I wonder why the fuck that is.

Take your elitist attitude and shove it.

Say what you want about Pip's Yankee loyalties, but this quote is right on the money:

Whatever, the Tribe plays in the little weak ass Central division and gets to see the Royals, Tigers, White Sox and mighty Twins 19 damn times per season.... The inability to win in the Central while facing such weak competition is simply lame....

I don't think anyone expects the Indians to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox when it comes to big-dollar free agents... I certainly don't at any rate.

But the fact is that since the beginning of Shapiro's first rebuild (2002) the Indians have been a factor in the Central race after the All-Star Break just three times in nine seasons (2004, 2005, 2007.)

That isn't good enough.

Competing for the title in this division on a semi-regular basis shouldn't be too much to expect out of this club.

I like the Indians as well, so it's not as if I'm just ripping them and praising the Yankees...I would love nothing more than to see these two clubs in the ALCS every year.... Fact of the matter is, people bitch and moan about the Yankees for spending money to make themselves a winning organization ...People scream how unfair that is..... But, the competition in which the Yankees face and the Indians face each and every year is far different throughout the year and extremely unbalanced, and that goes completely unnoticed and unmentioned on here.... Virtually 40 of the Yankees games are against the Red Sox and Rays and it's not as if Toronto is any slouch either...

You can have the Milk or the Cookies but I'm not giving you both....

You say that like the Rays were worth a damn beyond the last 2 years. Pretty sure I'll take having to play in the AL East if it meant we could have a $200 million payroll and simply wait for big stars to be FAs and buy them. I'm guessing the Indians would have 27 World Series rings as well.

If only we would of let big George buy the Tribe back in the 1970's.

With all do respect, I disagree....the Yanks make their money from YES...he wouldn't be making that much money in Cleveland.

You sarcastically call the Twins, who have six division titles in the last decade "mighty", then overrate the other teams in the AL East. The Rays have had two really good seasons in their 13 year history, and will be an average team again when Crawford, Pena, and Soriano bolt this offseason. The Blue Jays haven't won more than 90 games (the number usually needed to seriously contend) since 1993, which is also the last time they reached the postseason (17 years ago). Baltimore hasn't had a winning season since 1997 (13 years ago).

It's the Yankees and Red Sox almost every year, and usually the loser of that race buys the Wild Card.

If we could play the AL East teams more and get to spend the same amount of money as the Yankees do, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

I don't blame the Yankees for the economic disparity - they play within the rules. But I'm also not stupid enough to think they're doing something the Indians and other teams aren't doing...they just have much, much more money.

The Twins play solid fundamental baseball and I respect that (I wish the Indians could play that way) but they're not that good of a team.... Nice little squad and all, but they're in over their heads against quality opponents...

It's the fact that the Twins have won six division titles in the last ten years that is embarrassing.... The fact that the Indians can't compete with them, even 3 years after losing Santana, is quite disturbing...

At least the Indians were good and worthy of post season play when people were making fun of them in the 90's for winning the weak central....The Twins ? Denard Span, Michael Cuddeyer, JJ Hardy ??? give me a break, man...

I actually totally agree about the Twins, lol. They hardly impress me.

No mention of Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Francisco Liriano, Delmon Young, or Carl Pavano?

They won 94 games this year...they're not that good of a team? You give me a break...they're a very good team. Please don't talk about them being in a consistently weak division when 3 of the other 4 teams in the AL East have sucked for the past 15 years aside from two good years from the Rays.

By the way, check it out:

SHORTSTOP A - .270/.340 OBP/.370 SLG/.710 OPS
SHORTSTOP B - ..268/.320 OBP/.394 SLG/.714 OPS

Pretty similar stats...if anything, Shortstop B put up better numbers.

Shortstop A is Derek Jeter. Shortstop B is JJ Hardy.

Maybe you shouldn't make fun of Hardy so much...

Jeter is having a down year...

Jeter is having a down year...

The point is that you can't be blinded by names...Jeter is having an identical year to JJ Hardy, and the statistics prove it. Does that mean Hardy is better? Of course not...but just because the Twisn don't have a roster full of household names, it doesn't mean that they're not a very good team.

If the Twins were that good they would have advanced in the postseason more than once in the six years they've made it. The only time they've gotten to the ALCS in this span was 2002 and that was when they beat the Athletics, who were a notorious playoff choke-dog.

They're division-series fodder and not much more. Their postseason record speaks for itself.

The '05 White Sox, '06 Tigers and '07 Indians were better than any of these Minnesota teams.

No, they're not... They won 94 games because they play 19 games each against 3 triple A type of teams and the White Sox..The only team to match them basically with wins against their division was the Reds, because, well, the NL Central was just as weak as the AL Central....

The Twins couldn't even compete against the AL East this year and there's a reason for that..... It's cause they're overrated and not really that good... Having the crutch to play such weak competition throughout the course of 162 inflates their status...

Mauer is solid
Morneau is a player I like
Liriano is a decent #2 starter
Delmon Young is nothing special
Carl Pavano is cut from the Paul Byrd cloth, you can have him

You compared JJ Hardy to Derek Jeter-- regardless of the context or point that was trying to be proved, you just compared JJ Hardy to Derek Jeter.... You will forever wear that from here on out....
