So long, David Griffin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: David Griffin?

Because we have Anthony Bennett, does he ring a bell? Frye is going to want starter minutes, and I feel we need to start actually developing the young players we have now!!

He was first #1 overall for a reason. Let's see what he can do without someone limiting his minutes.

You do know how weak the draft was last year right? Just because he was taken number one doesn't mean he should of been taken number one.

Also, you do know why his minutes were limited right?

Re: David Griffin?

I didn't make this thread to be questioned by 100 different fonts on my views. I wanted to discuss thoughts and concerns of our current GM. Everybody obviously doesn't feel the same way, but I wanted to get other people's perspectives.

That's all.

I'm just worried about rebuilding a rebuild yet again. It feel like the Browns right now to me, and it scares the fuck out of me. Not going to lie.

Re: David Griffin?

I wouldn't "crown his ass" yet. He hasn't made any "A" moves so far, but he's had very little time so the jury is still out on him.

IMO, his first test will be constructing a playoff caliber roster next season.

Getting rid of Mike Brown sure is an A in my book.

Re: David Griffin?

I believe Griffin was pushing big time for Blatt and that's why we went with him. Also it was reported that Gilbert was trying that Coach Cal shit before Griffin was the GM. And remember Griffin didn't come from Grant. Just because he worked here a while when Grant was here doesn't mean shit.

Agreed. Your boss gets fired for how he ran his company, you're up next, you gonna run it the same way as him?

Unfair to judge Griffin just because he worked for a guy.

It would've been fair if he buddy hired Gentry then it be 2013 all over again.

You are missing the point and getting defensive. It's kind of annoying.

First of all, of course I know why he was limited, but what does that have to do with this year?

It doesn't matter if last year draft was weak. They obviously saw something in AB to draft him. I want to see him develop, and I want to see what he can do without limitations.

We aren't rebuilding at all... We are adding a #1 pick who will help immediately they are so good, and have a lot of cap space which we are expected to use on veterans/proven players to help us win now... Example, our interest in the vet Frye who could come in and help right away.

Re: David Griffin?

To be fair we have never been out of a rebuild since Lebron left.

How can you want other peoples opinions yet you don't want to be questioned?

Re: David Griffin?

Just because we are connected to a guy in a tweet doesn't mean it's true. Could be an agent trying to boost his clients worth by including a team with a ton of cap space. Fact is, the guys we have been connected to thus far (the foreign PF, Thornton, Frye) are all good shooters and an obvious need for our team. Hard to see why his motives are being questioned when he literally told us after the season we need more shooters.

I'm not defensive at all. Just trying to understand any valid points you may have.

Who is saying AB is going to be limited this year? Your acting like we already signed Frye and besides, Frye will see most of his time at the 5 if we sign him.

No need to get defensive. You could've just asked what everyone thought of Griffin and not said your views. People are allowed to disagree with you.

You can't get annoyed at the fact that:

1) you stated an opinion about Griffin and people disagree with you

2) He missed your point, big deal.

3) You made a thread...in a forum with people that have differing views.

If you don't want 100 different people question you, than don't make a thread and post your opinions on Griffin. Especially where you said you don't believe he hired Blatt. Like wut?

Re: David Griffin?

Griffin has stated that our team needs 3 things:

1. Overall increase in BBIQ
2. More Height/Length
3. More Shooters

Seems to me that sounds like what we need as a team. How will he go about accomplishing it is another story. The players that we have been linked to so far, Frye, Thornton, Rudez, seem to fit one, maybe two of those criteria. It's really just too early to tell how things are going to play out for Griffin with the players.

I will give him a passing grade on dumping Mike Brown for David Blatt tho.

Re: David Griffin?

I will wait until July is over to pass first judgments of Griffin. I liked what the Hawes move did for our offense the first few weeks there, and getting rid of Mike Brown is always a good thing.

Re: David Griffin?

I'm just thinking the disaster this team is going to be defensively if our moves are to draft Parker, resign Hawes, and sign Frye in free agency...I personally think that as long as we sign a stretch big we have enough pieces that can score, I want someone who can come in and defend on the perimeter...We better draft Wiggins...

Re: David Griffin?

Every thread where people bitch about someone else's opinion and then provide bullet points why it's wrong just has to stop. This is the 3rd thread I've read today where it's happened.

Stop bitching children. Don't agree with someone because he's an idiot? Ignore them ffs.

Stop ruining my hideaway from real life or I'm gonna start mailing you all shitty diapers

Re: David Griffin?

Here's my take on Griffin so far:

-Didn't over react and trade Kyrie, Dion, or Bennett at the trade deadline

-Good trade for Hawes. Improved our play and spacing when he got here.

-Convinced Gilbert to keep him on as GM

-Identified Blatt, waited his postseason out, and then convinced Gilbert to allow him to sign him as coach.

I don't count any of the draft and trade rumors as pluses or minuses until they actually happen.

So I've actually got him as 4/4 so far. Obviously, what he does in the next three weeks is the big test and will shape all of our initial grades on him.
