Kendrick Perkins - Canton's Enforcer

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Perk was productive tonight! Two quick fouls and another turnover from a moving pick, all in under two minutes of run!

Jesus, this guy is painful to watch.
Hard to judge. Still learning the system and not the best team for him to play against. I think we will see the value tomorrow vs an Indy team who wants to slow down and go big.

Not hard to judge, he's been this bad for years now. His improvement with more knowledge of our system will be minimal at best, he spent years with OKC and never further developed a single part of his game.

Guy's just another six fouls at the end of the bench for the rest of the year. He's not sniffing the rotation come playoff time.

Meh. The foul-calls on him were ticky-tack. He was active when he was out there. He made some good plays.

The good thing about Perkins is that he's a terrible basketball player and will seriously hurt this team if they get into foul trouble.

But if a fistfight breaks out, he'll win!

Well, Perk was never a good offensive player even at his peak. He is a 5-10 mins guys every game. The only criticism would be instead of getting those fouls in the offensive end, he should be fouling hard and do it in the defensive end and sent opposition players to the free-throws line than getting easy baskets.

He did set a WMD of a pick on kyrie which might be his saving grace. Either ball screen or pin down for jr

More fouls and turnovers (5) than points and rebounds (4) for Perk again tonight, and as a bonus he spent most of his 12 minutes getting taken to town by Ian Mahinmi.

Looks like it's not a matchup problem with Perkins, it's more a case of him just sucking at professional basketball.

Perkins sucks at basketball which is what I tried to tell everyone way back when we initially got him but you all disagreed me into oblivion. All he contributes is fouls.

No one that is informed thinks he is a great bball player at this point in his career.

What he is, is a positive influence in the locker room. A guy with championship experience to mentor our young guys, and a big body as insurance when Moz is in foul trouble and we need to mug some people.

Don't forget, KD teared up when talking about the guy. A championship team is a sum of its parts and a lot of people contribute mentally in ways they can't physically.

Look I get all that. But we have Mike Miller, James Jones, Brendan Haywood, and Shawn Marion already for guys who have championship experience but can't do anything on the court. We need guys who can actually contribute in the basketball game not more mentors and sideline cheerleaders.

And KD teared up when talking about all the guys on the team not just Perk (not that it matters anyways).

you only play 8 and a half people in the playoffs so what does it matter?

We saw the gaping hole that exists when Moz is in foul trouble a few games ago. At least now we have another big body to throw in there in emergency situations.

You and me both. I got a million dislikes for calling out the facts. Which is, if Perkins plays 10-15 minutes a game, we're worse off for it.

I wasn't too excited by the Perk signing, but I think the far bigger reason the Cavs wanted him is that he is a viable pure center who can back up Mozgov and will willingly accept his role, even if that means he doesn't play much. Blatt said he was more than just "insurance," but really that's what he is and is surely how he is viewed.

Turns out there were very few options on the free agent/buy out market anyway. Even Thomas Robinson wasn't available since Philly claimed him off waivers. But if the Cavs had gone after a more talented player like T-Rob or Andray Blatche, I think there are legitimate questions as to whether a guy like that would accept the role, especially on offense, the Cavs would have asked him to play.

Just my two cents: Running the old, pre-Mozgov, defensive scheme (The one ranked at at bottom of the league) when the Russian is out if far worse than having Perk fill in. Even if it's for 15 minutes.
