Kendrick Perkins - Canton's Enforcer

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Perk is currently a shaqtin a fool waiting to happen. If he keeps this up we basically wasted another roster spot to an intangible/toughness guy who can not contribute anything in the actual game.

Yes he is our fourth big but your fourth big also needs to be a capable basketball player. If Andy was not injured he is our fourth big. Imagine the drop off with Perk.

You and me both. I got a million dislikes for calling out the facts. Which is, if Perkins plays 10-15 minutes a game, we're worse off for it.

Totally agree with you. It's why I referenced groupthink a few pages back.

Kendrick Perkins is hot fucking garbage.

Yeah I gotta admit, Perkins has been utter garbage when he's been on the floor. Hopefully that is just him adjusting to our team, but that seems like wishful thinking..

Good thing he's the 4th big on this team and won't play more than 10 minutes barring an emergency (or a blowout).

I knew to calm down my expectations of Kendrick Perkins after reading this post from a long time member of realgm.com last week :chuckle:

"I haven't posted on this site in several years. i have 48 unread private messages that i'm probably not going to look at before i log off. i abandoned a moderator position at the okc thunder board because, frankly, i'm not that interested in posting at realgm anymore.

this news has compelled me to make one more post. and that's to say -- cleveland fans: you're about to bear witness to basketball atrocities you didn't even know were possible. i've been watching the nba for over 30 years and kendrick perkins is far and away the most frustratingly bad player i've ever had the displeasure of seeing on my favorite team. kevin durant is having foot surgery again and honestly i couldn't feel better about the thunder moving forward because that albatross is gone for good.

you think he will help you defensively. and he is still capable of being solid there. but everything -- EVERYTHING -- he does on the defensive side of the court will be outweighed immeasurably by his abject futility as an offensive player. bobbled passes, unwise jump shots, glacial post-ups, delusions of ball handling grandeur, offensive fouls, missed dunks, getting blocked by guards, getting blocked by the rim. if there isn't a special name for the feeling of dread that occurs when kendrick perkins lopes awkwardly down the court in transition, there should be.

usually i'd take the time now to post some stats to back up this position i have. many of you, for lord knows what reason, may be under the impression that perkins isn't terrible. but i'm going to end it here. this is my basketball eulogy to the kendrick perkins era. it's also an olive branch to cleveland cavs fans who seem to be feeling much the same way i felt when the thunder first acquired kendrick perkins. thunder fans know the grief you're about to experience. there's a light at the end of the tunnel."

I would've actually liked to have seen Perkins playing in this rather heated Houston game with guys kicking, scratching and clawing.

I mean, if he wasn't brought in to be an enforcer, to calm down opposing teams and make them think twice, then what the fuck is he doing on the roster?

Agreed. He's officially a terrible signing, and yet *another* dead body on the bench. Does LeBron understand he's made it harder on himself by stacking the team with his guys?

Every big man in Houston's rotation has range out to the 3 point line. No chance you bring Perkins into that.

It's the same reason the Cavs ended with Tristan and Love instead of Mozgov.

If Howard played, Perkins definitely would have matched up with him at times.

Blatt seems very uncomfortable with change. Textbook tonight was sticking with Delly on defense when Shumpert was playing better on ball than him. I understand why he didn't want Mozgov or Perkins in there. Everyone can hit 3s, and using Mozgov as a paint protector means he won't be able to get out to DMo quick enough, and no one is going to be there for the rebound (help out rebounding on this roster is shit without Mozgov). But Blatt doesn't seem to improvise. Kind of a Harvard classic. He has a gameplan going into the game, and sticks to it, no matter what. Also, he looks like he doesn't want to get into trouble. It's the one time I wish we had Jason Kidd as our coach. We just look soft when we let Harden kick LeBron in the crotch.

Would have rather seen us get a backup PG. Delli is not the answer

I thought we would have made some acquisitions. We've been told all year "Ray Allen is coming, Ray Allen is coming."

The last thing we should've done at the deadline was to stand pat. But, we blew our wad and overspent.

Great pieces, no doubt, but we paid top dollar and then some.

Seriously though, I think the fans got way too excited about adding Perk. He is a 5 minute guy. He has lost all his ability to jump. We have too many guys on the bench tha can not play right now. haywood, perk and damn it what the hell has happened to mike miller?

Houston stretches the floor too well at the 5. I do agree though, would have liked to see him crack some heads out there, but I can see why he didn't play.

If Howard was playing, we would have seen Perkins. He's a very situational addition.

Couldn't help but wonder what Perkins would have done to Beverly or even to Harden for that clear blatant kick to the King's junk.

The NBA can't fine the entire team if you make a sub just to rough someone up. I thought Houston deserved it. I have a feeling though if these two teams meet again (they won't, Houston is not getting out of the West), Perkins at the first sign of any testiness, throws a much needed bow. I think Beverly deserves one right now.

I wouldn't call Perkins one of his guys. They've pretty much only ever hated each other in the past.
