Sources: Nets, Nuggets reach agreement; now it's up to Carmelo Anthony to say yes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Melo associates Brooklyn as his home as well as Baltimore, that's all that really matters and if I'm not mistaken his wife is from Brooklyn too, so it's a family decision as well.

Since when? Since he started thinking about his marketing opportunities as a member of the Knicks or Nets?

But yeah, there have been reports that his wife has been pushing him to play in NYC.

If you want to know what someone cares about, you don't have to look much farther then where they spends their money. Melo's charity work revolves around Baltimore (which his own web site calls his "home town"), Denver (where he plays), and Syracuse (where he played in college). The "WB" tatoo on his shoulder actually stands for West Baltimore. Dude has an Oriole tatoo on his arm, and had a custom '71 Chevelle done up with an Oriole paint job that he's currently auctioning for his charity foundation:

Guess he won't want to be driving that around in NYC ...

How is this dumb for NJ? You're getting Carmelo Anthony. This is a superstar's league, and Melo is one of maybe 10 superstars out there. He's only 26. Not to mention, this move would be more about next year and the year after than this year for NJ.

1.) Melo being a superstar is questionable & very debatable.

2.) They're giving up the #3 pick in the past year's draft, 4 1st rd picks, & they're still young starting PG. That's a lot of young talent to give up for Melo, an aging Billups, & shit. They'll be stuck with Lopez, Melo, & scrap for the next few years, especially if the NBA does away with the exceptions.

If Anthony throws away any chance of winning to just appease his wife, then he's a little bitch. I can't believe Carmelo would leave Denver (who is decent) to play for a team that would peak at 44 wins in the East sometime in the next 5 years. If Billups refuses and wants a buyout, who is the PG, SG, and PF for the Nets? Who could the Nets steal with the MLE (if there is one in the next CBA) when they have to compete with the KNICKS, HEAT, and LAKERS for any decent free agents?

There's always players to be had and the Lakers have shown they're not willing to go over the tax. The Heat are the Heat and no SG will want to go there with Wade and Miller already there. Same goes for SF (which I doubt the Nets would worry about) and PF. The Nets will be in Brooklyn and the night life in New York is good enough for them to attract people.

Then so is LeBron, Kobe, Paul and Wade.

Why do i refuse to believe this guy?

But i do think he'll end up in New York.........Denver is gonna lower the price i think......honestly getting Felton, Fields or Galinari and Mozgov along with Curry's expiring will be good for the future of the Nuggets franchise

Guy has a very good track record and has reported transactions days before they happen

Then so is LeBron, Kobe, Paul and Wade.

Harris is fool's gold.

Wade, Kobe, Paul, & LeBron all make their teammates better. Melo doesn't have that ability. He's an amazing scorer, that's it. Perennial all-star for sure. Not a superstar.

Point being, he's still young & is their starting PG. You don't want to include him? Fine, don't. Their still giving up way too much in Favors & 4 1st rd picks.

Well he did meet with James Dolan on Thursday night........maybe it is gonna happen.

The trade wont be processed through the league until Tuesday due to the holiday

How exactly do you measure 'making your teammates better'? Kobe hogging the ball and shooting all the time makes his teammates better? Wade, LeBron and Bosh doing the bulk of the scoring make their teammates better?

Now you're over valuing the picks. The Lakers pick is small potatoes. The Houston pick is going to be a question mark at best. The Golden State and Nets one are the only two that I see being worth what you're making them out to be. In reality it's 3-4 picks depending on where Houston's is at and if Golden State's pans out (I think it will). The Nets could include a next year pick, which would make it higher. Favors is good, but he's no Melo.

Eddie House: .412 3pt% - 4th highest total of his 11 year career.
James Jones: .423 3pt% - highest total of his 8 year career.
Carlos Arroyo: .438 3pt% - highest total of his 10 year career.

We may hate them, but don't deny the fact that Wade & James have not only scored a ton, but have also made a living off of making their teammates better.

Melo has never averaged more than 4 assists per game. And has broken 3 assists per game exactly 4 times in his 8 year career (2.8 this season currently). Kobe has averaged more than 4 assists per game 12 times in his 15 year career.

Fact is, it's still 4 1st rd picks, meaning they have no opportunity to get a young talent (2nd rd is a crapshoot, as we all know) next to an aging PG, Lopez, & Melo this coming draft.

lol, Melo isn't on the level of the NBA superstars like LeBron, Wade, and Howard. . . the dude is a scorer and that's it. He's not a play maker and he's not much of a defender. . . I wouldn't build a team around him.

The Nuggets built their team around Melo and they did just fine in the playoffs. Sure they haven't made a finals, but they've come close.

I guess Kevin Durant isn't a superstar or a guy you'd build your team around either.

Right because Denver hasn't done very good doing just that.

Interesting
SpearsNBAYahoo Marc J. Spears Y! Sports has learned NYK has now offered Gallo, Felton, Chandler, Curry and a to be acquired 1st rounder to DEN for Melo, Billups & fillers

looks like twitter.com/incarceratedbob has the scoup

Why would Melo want to go to the Nets? They're 17-40 8 games out of the 8th seed, Lopez is averaging 5 rebounds per game which is terrible for a 7-footer......they will have nobody after this deal

They didn't. . . that team has been a 1st round exit for basically every single year with the exception of the year they got to the WCF. I understand he never had another star with him but they only got past the 1st round once in the last 7 years.
