Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets / T-Mac to Knicks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

Good trade for both teams. Houston acquires a quality scorer, while Sacramento makes a move that will let Evans grow as their top player and team leader, which, let's face it, Martin WASN'T.

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

Wow....This trade came out of no where

This is fucking sad b/c i wanted to see my kings trade for a big-man....And they go and trade martin for t-mac....Unless they trade t-mac for a big-man now....Just wow

ANY word on why corey was taken out the 2nd half???

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

The deal isn't over right? I just heard that the Knicks maybe offering a few first round picks to get McGrady there. Some of you who are saying screw you Knicks or whatever better relax. It's not over yet..

The only way Sacremento takes on Jeffries and Harrington/Hughes is if the Knicks take protection off those picks. They hold all the leverage. Also, the Knicks were trying to use Hill as a sweetner for Houston. Sacramento has no need for him after picking up Landry (I imagine the Kings pick up his option) and already having Thompson. So I think any deal would be predicated around two unprotected first round picks.

Edit: Even though they may not need him, I imagine the Kings would still demand Hill in the deal.

If the Knicks can manage to make a trade, they are still screwed. Even if they have the money to sign two max FAs, they will have no depth and no draft picks. You really think LeBron, Wade or Bosh would want to walk into that situation?

Either way, the Kings are making out in this deal. They are either getting Landry and cap space to add onto a young, talented core, or they will get Landry and a couple of unprotected picks for a player they were paying a lot of money to who wasn't fitting their team. As talented a scorer Martin is, I like this trade for Sacramento.

They got Carl Landry....

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

They got Carl Landry....

I mean more of a center...I always thought they could have done with a defensive, rebounding center...Like sammy or camby

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

I would not have traded Landry for some one that frail. Landry is a beast. Knicks still in play.

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

Even if the Knicks are still in play, no way it's going to involve Jeffries' contract.

Sac doesn't wanna have any more extra salary that isn't for usable talent.

If T-Mac gets shipped to the Knicks, it'll be EC's for EC's.

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

Is this trade not official yet?

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

That team is going to be nasty next year if yao is back.

Yeah, nasty on injury list. Yao and Martin competing which one sits out more games.

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

This isn't a great trade for the Rockets. Landry has been balling out of his mind the whole year. He's one reason why they've been such a surprise. Kevin Martin is injury prone and he doesn't play defense. Are you guys nuts?

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

Well, this deadline is working out well for us.

We robbed the Wizards, are probably getting Z back..and now NY has no chance (basically) of clearing Jeffries' salary.

The Kings will only take Jeffries' salary if they get Lee+picks. Even if Walsh agreed, and I doubt he would, Lee can veto the trade.

*high fives*

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

Not so fast IBWT!

The Kings have traded Tracy McGrady to the Knicks, sources tell Y! Sports.

Kings send TMac and Rodriguez to NY, Kevin Martin, Jared Jeffries and picks to HOU and Larry Hughes, Landry and Dorsey to Sac, source says

T-Mac just texted a friend, giddy, saying: "I'm a New York Knick!"

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

Looks like Walsh caved and gave up the picks(possibly unprotected).

Now they have room for David Lee+1 Max.

Re: Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets

Kings get: Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey, Larry Hughes

Rockets get: Kevin Martin, Jared Jefferies, Jordan Hill, swap first round picks with NYK in 2011 and NYK 2012 first round pick

Knicks get: Tracy McGrady, Sergio Rodriguez
