Thank You Ohio State – From Penn State

I'm not a fan of either team.

It bothers me that this school is making money off a scandal ridden football program in which everyone from the coaches to the President of the Penn State had their hand in. This isn't about students, fans, or most of the faculty. This is about shutting down the program for the rest of the season out of respect for what happened and the investigations that are currently ongoing.

By playing football you are giving fans such as BrownsBoy the "high" of overcoming a situation that hasn't fully been compromised yet. In other words, they need to wait until everything comes out. There are new victims, new cover ups and new information in general coming out everyday. This isn't the time to move on.

Like I said, it's not the players fault, it's not the students fault but at the same time your officials are responsible for their actions and that will have an unfortunate effect on everyone who attends the school.

Christ the school was taking money from Sandusky to hold his overnight camps there AFTER he had already been accused of sexual acts with minors. Penn State should suspend their football program for at least the remainder of the season until everything is sorted out because we're a long way from that point. If the school is truly all about the victims then start acting like it. That might mean not stamping PSU paw prints on the sides of your vigil candles...

What does suspending the football program do, though? The victims families even said that wasn't what they wanted. The current players, team etc. have no involvement with this. Punishing them is foolish. Wiping out the football team takes away more than football. It takes away a shit load of jobs. It takes away a shit load of school based opportunities, including internships, journalism experience, EMS practice etc. Taking away football does nothing but hurt people who were not involved.

I am not saying all 96,000 students across the state JUST focus on the victims. There are dumb people that really don't get it. But this situation will NEVER be overcome. It isn't a situation that can be overcome. I also do not even hesitate to think winning football games helps anything that has to do with child abuse. PLAYING the game last week allowed us to come together and calm down, so it did help in that respect. You can't look at all of these minute details like PSU on the side of a candle and say that people don't get it. We still have to go about our lives, go to class, support our school, go to football games, hang out with friends and so on. But there is a focus on raising child abuse awareness, and it will only continue to grow as the dust settles and people realize the situation more and more.

I by no means back one person even associated with all of this. The only thing I care about with them is that Joe survives his cancer. But that is a whole different story. Again, I don't get a sense of overcoming problems by winning football games. I felt the same way this week, as I did last week. Not being at Penn State, you'll just have to take my word on the fact that the majority of the students do care about the victims, and any potential victims that come in the future. If you dont, then so be it.

Yet they are the ones who would be punished with your proposal. Makes sense.

I could have said a lot worse. I don't have a ton of respect for Penn State or their fans right now, but instead of voicing that, I simply stated something that is very likely the truth. I don't need him to tell me how great Buckeye Nation is and how great our school is and the like. It's not about me trying to be a douche- far from it. I'm happy that someone from another school is able to see that and praise us.

But posting it after a hard fought win for his team and loss for ours is the epitome of tacky shit and a lot easier to do after a win.

Maybe you would have, we'll never know.

Confusing that you quote this:

And yet you are surprised by my response and some of the other ones in here. Very confusing.

Just something to munch on.

I know many OSU fans think their shit doesn't stink, and your comments certainly reflect that, but let's not forget that you have your own problems to worry about.

Again - you're making this about football. This isn't about football. Ohio State is a great school. So is Penn State. Because a few people did an awful thing, it does not mean our school is a piece of shit. I could really go into why it is not, but I don't think you're getting at that. Not sure why you don't respect Penn State fans. To classify us all by your judgements of a few is a bit strange. Clearly, though, you're stubborn about all of this. I am glad some of you understand what I am saying.

That is obviously a part of Carmen Ohio. A part about friends and foes, being truthful, upfront and proper. Which is what Ohio State fans were yesterday. I am done throwing stones back and forth with people. These are my feelings, and always will be, win or lose against Ohio State. My dad is a Buckeye alum. I am not just BSing around with this. I respect your thoughts and opinions. Good luck against Michigan.

Cool? It pales in comparison to the issues at Penn State and you know it. Don't waste both my time and yours.

Well, since I'm one of the guys on these boards who actually speaks out AGAINST the ludicrous opinions that Penn State should receive some sort of "death penalty," part of this is preaching to the choir. :chuckles: I'm not judging all Penn State fans, but the riots and gathering on Paterno's lawn and all that shit ... leaves a pretty sour taste in my mouth. But hey, that's me.

Not much else to say. Simply being "frank" with you as the lyrics say. Truthful and up front, even if you don't think it's proper.

Your school's players broke rules, your administration covered it up, you've had six players get suspended this season alone, you vacated all of 2010, and you're facing a "failure to monitor" charge...but hey, at least nobody molested kids! Good job!

O-H!

Some players sold their gear for tattoos and our coach didn't tell anybody about it. It sucks, but please don't try to hype it up like it's even close to what Penn State is going through. Only a jackass would do that.

When did I ever say it was as bad as Penn State? And do you honestly believe that's all that has happened at OSU? I'm just pointing out that your school is far from perfect...only a jackass would ignore the corruption that exists within Ohio State University.

To say nothing of the fact that telling the NCAA of said circumstances may have resulted in a compromised federal investigation.

Um, well, you did compare the two situations. Now you're trying to backtrack and run in circles. I am not amused. What does OSU having problems have to do with anything I have said in this thread? Anything?

Do you think that's all that happened at Penn State? Oh wait, it isn't- because we find new victims every day.

I simply pointed out that OSU is far from perfect after you proclaimed its greatness. I never compared molesting children to taking money, so no, I'm not backtracking, you are simply putting words in my mouth.

worst thread ever.

Distracted, stop making multiple accounts, I know its you

If it's really true that Penn State fans received, for the most part, a warm welcome, then I think that's total bullshit.

I remember distinctly the amount of shit we got from Nittany Lion fans when Tress with-held that we got free tattoos.

Now these guys have a coach that with-held that someone on his staff fucked kids, and they get a warm welcome? Seriously? Thats pathetic. I know OSU fans are better than that.

I'm serious. I acknowledge the fact that this puts me as an obnoxious, immature OSU fan in some of your books, but Penn State fans deserve no less then what they dished out themselves a few months ago. Karma is a bitch and did not need to take a day off yesterday.

Fans- like kids- are fucking stupid. Still don't understand why people can't go to a goddamn sporting event and enjoy themselves without bothering other people. Watch the goddamn game and shut your mouths. It's fine to taunt the players like Duke fans do, but being a douche-bag in the stands is embarrassing. You're embarrassing yourself and ruining a spectacle that- let's face it- shouldn't really have any bearing on your personal lives.

If a group of fans behaved themselves and didn't attack and treat other fans like shit...that's a good thing. Be a grown up. Don't be an idiot.

I'm not even going to get into why it's retarded to attack the fan base that had nothing to do with a child rapist running free...

Would you post this if you lost?

I'm guessing no.

Glad you enjoyed it. Meaningless game for Ohio State in a meaningless season, but I still wish we had killed Penn State.

Another reason I hate OSU fans.
