Every year most Browns fans look at the schedule and guess which games they will win and which games they will lose. Invariably the Browns will lose many of the games you 'think' they will win and somehow pull a game or 2 out that you thought they'd have no chance in winning. End result you ALWAYS overshoot the the win total by a few games.

It's a slow day so I thought I'd give it a try and I'd like to see what you guys come up with as well.

Instead of trying to pick apart each game I'm going to look at it in 4 game buckets. Out of those 4 games I will guess not who we will beat but the amount of wins we will get out of those 4 tries. Here we go

Week 1: @ Pittsburgh
Week 2: New Orleans
Week 3: Baltimore
Week 4: Bye
Week 5: @ Tennessee

Bucket 1 we come out with 2 wins and shock the world. I think we beat Tenn and somehow manage to win 1 of the 1st 3.

Week 6: Pittsburgh
Week 7: @ Jacksonville
Week 8: Oakland
Week 9: Tampa Bay

Bucket 2 is the easiest of the 4 buckets so naturally they will win the least. 1 game

Week 10: @ Cincinnati
Week 11: Houston
Week 12: @ Atlanta
Week 13: @ Buffalo

Bucket 3 looks like a cupcake in Buffalo, Houston should be improved but they still don't have good QB play and we always seem to take at least 1 game from Cincy. Still we win 1 game from this bucket. At this point we are 4-8. Seems about right

Week 14: Indianapolis
Week 15: Cincinnati
Week 16: @ Carolina
Week 17: @Baltimore

Bucket 4, the end of the season. Can we finish strong? Can we make the season respectable? 2 wins! I'm unreasonably optimistic about these last 4 even though my gut says they will be an unmitigated disaster after week 6 once the cries for Manziel become too great.

6-10! I'd take it at this point.

What say you?

But seriously, if we are going to bucket it out without being too specific...

Week 1: @ Pittsburgh
Week 2: New Orleans
Week 3: Baltimore
Week 4: Bye
Week 5: @ Tennessee

Bucket 1 record: 1-3

Week 6: Pittsburgh
Week 7: @ Jacksonville
Week 8: Oakland
Week 9: Tampa Bay

Bucket 2 record: 3-1

Week 10: @ Cincinnati
Week 11: Houston
Week 12: @ Atlanta
Week 13: @ Buffalo

Bucket 3 record: 3-1

Week 14: Indianapolis
Week 15: Cincinnati
Week 16: @ Carolina
Week 17: @Baltimore

Bucket 4 record: 1-3

8-8. Shock the world.

L @ Pittsburgh - it's impossible for the Browns to win an opener
L vs. New Orleans - home opener? definite loss
L vs. Baltimore - Hoyer misses a wide open receiver and Browns lose
Lose the bye week somehow
W @ Tennessee - Pettine masterminds a Win after the bye week

L vs. Pittsburgh - Steelers laugh at the "rivalry"

I start to question why I'm wasting 3.5 hours of a Sunday afternoon watching boring, low scoring, 3 and out Browns Football.

Johnny Starts the next game and I can't wait to watch every second of it

W @ Jacksonville (Woooooo)
W vs. Oakland - National Media goes nuts and thinks Johnny is the savior despite beating Bortles and Carr's awful teams
L vs. Tampa Bay - Justin Gilbert gets picked apart

L @ Cincinnati - Browns' fan base begins to lose any hope in turning the season around
W vs. Houston - fan base comes back temporarily
L @ Atlanta - hard fought game gives the Browns hope that they are improving
W @ Buffalo - Browns start to look at the season as being .500 in the 2nd half of the year

L vs. Indianapolis - Trent is held to 2.3 ypc but gets 2 TDs in an Indy rout
W vs. Cinci - no one in Cleveland respects Cinci again. Browns fans get pissed because they are killing draft position
L @ Carolina - Browns get absolutely dominated. Seeing Cam Newton play makes fans itch for Jameis.
L @ Baltimore - Browns have nothing to play for and are ready for the offseason. Everyone in Cleveland is grateful for the loss

6-10 for your standard Browns season

The first 4, mostly the first 3 games will be pretty brutal.

The next 4 look relatively easy on paper.

I'm feeling 3-5 to start.

The third group of games will define the season as the last 4 are pretty tough.

I think we can squeeze out 7 wins. But we seem to love getting 4 or 5.

We're never good enough to get into the playoffs, and we're never bad enough to get the draft pick we need. That's my prediction for this season.

Season: 9-7

I seriously thought about going with 10 or even 11 wins eyeing the playoffs, but with 5 road games the last 8 weeks I just can't see that without Gordon for the year.

Bold prediction for the year: Running backs combine for 2500 yards on the ground

Week 1: @ Pittsburgh - W
Week 2: New Orleans - L
Week 3: Baltimore - W

Week 17: @Baltimore - L

Gordon would go a long way to making the offense dangerous. Without him, there's just not enough depth to go 16 games and compete. Ben Tate could look fantastic in this offense. History says he's going to get banged up. I think the defense is good enough to keep us in games early in the season. Late in the year when most offenses have kicked the rust off, we just don't have the playmakers, or the elite Qb, or the depth, or the established system in place to score enough points to win. This is a good offensive system for the bad weather we expect. The blocking scheme is going to get defenses frustrated by the end of games. If we have a lead, we should be able to sit on it. However, with inconsistent receivers, this screams of another 8-in-the-box, misery season.

5-11

4-12. We win beat Baltimore at home, Oakland, Tampa, and Buffalo. That's my prediction.

I'm more interested in the Buffalo bucket. I'm going with the Bills going 2-14 and us getting the number 1 pick.

I just got a feeling with this team. I think they have the leadership and attitude to take them up to the next step. This is the first time I've ever felt so good about the browns short and long term future.
