The 2015 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bauer had issues settling in early in games last year, not encouraging to see that it's still a problem.

That said, once he gets settled in, he might be one of the tougher guys to square up in all of baseball.

Especially considering the command he displayed in spring training. Just hope this was nerves for the first start of the season.

That being said it was encouraging to see him get through six innings even with the high walk count.

Proud to say I called that trade from the beginning.

I took a lot of heat for calling Choo a not top 50 player from the likes of boobie and all the other experts. I predicted Bauer's ascendance right afterwards and even confirmed Stubbs would flame out.

That was an awesome trade. Everyone we received have contributed, even Albers. Wouldn't say Stubbs flamed out he played great defense and wasn't bad against lefties. Been doing great in Colorado..though that's at Coors Field. Wouldn't mind still having him around.

Tribe has needed a big RH mid-lineup bat for 15 years, pretty much since Ramirez left (if you don't count the Juan-gone year). They still don't have one.

Meh.

Doesn't matter what hand they hit with, they just need consistent threats and solid pitching.

This is one of those easy fallback fan arguments- team 1-9 doesn't hit? "Its that lack of a big right handed bat!" well yes, no shit, if they had a Miggy Cabrera or a prime Manny Ramirez or Albert Belle they hit better. Then again, hitters like that are once a generation and we're partially made by steroids. Not exactly easy to find a once a generation hitter like that. Much more likely is the best 1-9 they can make. I still have no idea who the big right handed bat it has been that got the Giants to be so dominant.

I don't think they necessarily need a "big RH bat" just for the sake of having one, but given the structure of the lineup, I think they do need one. Given how many lefties this line up has, and switch hitters who are better hitting from the left side, naturally they will all face more lefty pitching, which does them all a disservice. I, as everyone else, thinks Brandon Moss was a great acquisition. However, he's now going to face more lefty pitching than he's ever seen, which pretty much negates the fact that he's playing in a much more hitter friendly park for lefties.

I disagree. That 2005 team imo would have possibly won a title if they had a RH bat. They had Victor (who is better from LH side) and Hafner. The "killer Bs" of Blake/Boone/Broussard killed them all year that year. This year I'm expecting the team to be abused by LH pitching unless Swisher shocks me.

I agree with the roids part, but the fact is that the Tribe drafted very poorly in the 2000s (I think it's been better the past few years) and they seem to have an addiction to OFs who lack power. If you put Cabrera in the Tribe's lineup it would be far better than it is. One big stick can make a huge difference in anchoring a lineup. The Tribe can't afford a Cabrera so I don't understand why they don't try to draft and develop guys with power.

BTW, it's worth noting that the Tigers payroll is 2x the Indians. It's like watching the junior varsity against the varsity team as a result. The JVs get an upset every once in a while but there's little chance of overtaking them, especially when the team spending 2x as much is competently run (as the Tigers are).

Just a terrible analogy.
