The 2015 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Chisenhall was practicing LF earlier in the season. Any chance we could see him in LF with Brantley in CF if they find a way to move Bourn?

This of course hinges on finding somebody who can play 3B next year at a good enough level to make it worth the move.

I don't see a reason you'd move Chisenhall off 3B, he's becoming pretty good over there.

Though if Urshela turns out to be real (I'm betting he's not), he's an excellent defensive third baseman as well. I'd rather not pay a premium for a free agent 3B and find an asset for LF/1B/DH

This team wins roughly 70 games, IMO

What changes would you make? Realistically, I don't see the Tribe significantly upgrading next years line-up. I would think most of the teams funds would be going towards the starting rotation.

The goal seems pretty simple to me - acquire a #2 starter and a middle-of-the-order bat. Easier said than done, obviously, but they should have $20-30 M to play with.

I'd keep an eye on Josh Beckett. I'm not sure he qualifies as a #2 starter due to his recent history, but he's having a great season with the Dodgers and has ties to Tito.

Jake Peavy, Ervin Santana, and James Shields are interesting possibilities as well. And don't forget about Justin Masterson.

With that said, I think it's more likely the SP comes via trade and, at this point, I'm not sure who the target might be.

As for the hitter, I maintain that Victor Martinez is the perfect fit. He's 35 and mostly a DH at this point, but that might lead to him being more affordable. If Swisher is able to play some RF, he can get enough ABs at DH/1B/RF. Swisher against LH and Murphy against RH would be ideal, with Raburn dumped to another team.

Who the fuck would want Raburn? I wish the Tribe would DFA his ass right now to be honest. Worthless, and his amazing catch the other day doesn't make up for it.

I'm sure someone would take a shot on him or if not, as you said, he could be DFA.

Ramsey and Holt certainly shouldn't be everyday starters at this point. Urshela doesn't have nearly enough clout to move Chisenhall off of third at this point.

You're stuck playing Swisher and Bourn somewhere, obviously. You'll simply have to hope they can turn their respective nosedives around.

I'm surprised both Yu Darvish and Adrian Beltre cleared waivers. Not that a deal would have necessarily been made, but still surprising.

Why bother to claim a player that would take a ransom to actually pry from the Rangers and who is also very unlikely to be dealt to a contender for that same reason? Rangers have no logical reason to move either righ now, short of a big deal. And getting a deal done with numerous prospects is hard as hell to do in late August since any prospects on the 40 man have to go through waviers- and your rivals would easily sniff out why you are passing top 10 prospects through waivers if you just put a claim in on Yu Darvish. Lots of players clear waivers this time of year anyway.

That's likely the reasoning on why no claim, still surprised someone didn't do it anyhow. You never know what you may be able to work out and it wouldn't hurt to claim.

Tucked away in Terry Pluto's latest column:

I've heard whispers about the Tribe considering Lonnie Chisenhall and/or Jason Kipnis as outfielders next spring. Not sure if that happens, but they could be other possibilities.
