The 2015 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So they got bonus points for being crappy longer?
Basically pretty much. From a Royals fan standpoint, they knew they were only going to get better instead of a one and done.

Hope you remember this when they miss the playoffs for another 10+ year stretch starting in a few years because they have no farm system anymore...you know, the thing that had them knowing "they were going to get better instead of a one and done" in the first place...

If they win a WS this season, who gives a fuck. Which will be competing in one back to back years oh by the way.

Ill take 5-6 straight good years with a few WS runs knowing 10 years of irrelevance is coming according to you. You act like that isn't us right now.

Considering the Indians won 92 and 85 games the last two years, no, that's not us.

And let's let the season play out before we crown the Royals repeat AL Champs.

I legitimately don't think the Indians will ever win the division again in my lifetime, let alone win a World Series (LOL) in my life. So if the KC Royals are able to win one while giving up their whole farm, more power to them.

How many playoff wins?

Obviously I'm upset over the latest sweep at home, I just need to go to bed and wake up telling myself we have one more late surge.

No, they don't...and this season is pretty much wrapped at this point.

But that has nothing to do with the next 10 years, where they've still got a decent core locked up for the forseeable future.

Didn't happen this year...sucks. Just trying to stop you before you get all 'emotional, whiny, bitch-ass woe is me we'll suck forever -- only in Cleveland' fan.

Shapiro has had control over the front office for 14 seasons. In that time the Tribe is 59 games under 500. Out of those 14 seasons there is a total of two playoff appearences and six playoff wins. They have finished at or below .500 9 times and 10 if this year plays out. In 14 years they have had only three seasons where they finished 20 games or better over .500. No trips to the World Series and one to the AlCS. Now if you are happy and content with those results then God Bless you.

And since Shap has taken over, this is how the teams you've specifically mentioned have fared:

Pissburgh: 207 games under .500; 2 playoff appearances; 2 playoff game wins (0 series wins); 11 seasons at or below .500; 1 season of 20+ games above .500; 0 trips to world series; 0 to LCS

Kansas City: 255 games under .500; 1 playoff appearance; 11 playoff wins (3 series wins); 10 seasons at or below .500; 1 seasons of 20+ games above .500 (if this season holds up); 1 trip to WS; 1 to LCS

Minnesota: 35 games over .500; 6 playoff appearances; 6 playoff wins (1 series win); 5 seasons at or below .500; 4 seasons at 20+ games above .500; 0 trips to WS; 1 to LCS

St Louis is obviously in a class in its own and has been pretty dominant over that time..

Minnesota had a nice little run, but got out of the ALDS exactly 1 time.. Pittsburgh & Kansas City have had a couple/3 good/great seasons in a row, but combined have 1 appearance past the division series..

KC and Pitt just recently turned it around but their fans were furious up to that point. Minny looks like they are back to having a team able to make the playoffs in consecutive years. I don't think KC fans will be satisfied until they win a World Series and if Pitt keeps making playoff runs their fans will be the same way too.i Idid not say I liked what those teams did over a 15 years stretch, but it seems they have good young teans able to make the playoffs on consecutive seasons. This front office has not been able to do that. The owner stated in his press conference his goal was to deliver multiple World Series titles. I don't see evidence this front office can make good on that promise. We should strive to be St Loius and San Fran, not be content with just making a wild card every 5 to 7 years. That is a losers mentality and you should and deserve better. Yes there are worse organizations then the tribe but thst should not be a rallying point to defend the front office. Why are you settling for results that are mediocre at best?

Make the playoffs on a consistent basis and put a team on the field that can win a World Series. If that is unrealistic then following the team is a gigantic waste of time. Judging by the low attendance and plummeting TV ratings many more fans agree with me then not. We have the smallest season ticket base with Tampa in the Majors. That is not a complete accident. The majority of the fan base is not satisfied.

That woe is me Cleveland fan card is just so overused.

2002-2012 was not so good baseball. One playoff berth, actually one very good playoff berth as in we would of won the WS if we didn't choke a 3-1 lead. But the next year we did nothing to improve the team then we eventually traded our Cy Youngs.

But one berth in 10 years. There is no woe is me, maybe woe is Cleveland Indians pathetic organization.

Feeling pressure from fans like you pointed out before that saw Bourn and Swish get signed. Now we're stuck with dead salary in a small market for another year. At least we watched an wild card game at home for all that.

The difference between the Indians and the Royals/Pirates is that the Royals and Pirates would either have new management or would be on a short leash if they were still stinking up the joint. The Indians Ownership doesn't hold the front office accountable for singing players to bad contracts.

Back-to-back 86+ win seasons wouldn't have them on a short leash.

Underachieved this year....blow it up.

Since Shapiro took over in 2001/2002:

The Pirates have had two GM's in place (a temporary GM for 3 weeks in between the two), the same number as us, and the same guy since 2007:

Dave Littlefield: 349-460 (69.8 wins per season), 0 playoff appearances *Never had more than 75 wins*
Neil Huntington: 519-614 (74.1 wins per season), 2 playoff appearances (0 LCS appearances) *1st five seasons were losing seasons, 1st four were 90+ loss seasons (including one 100 loss season)*

The Royals have had two GM's in place, the same number as us, and the same guy since 2006:

Allard Baird: 386-586 (64.3 wins per season), 0 playoff appearances *four 100 loss seasons*
Dayton Moore: 594-702 (74.3 wins per season), 1 playoff appearances (1 LCS, 1 WS) *5 out of 6 seasons with 90+ losses from 2007-2012*

Mark Shapiro: 704-754 (78.2 wins per season), 1 playoff appearance *three total 90 loss seasons, including the last two seasons he was in charge*
Chris Antonetti: 325-323 (81.3 wins per season), 1 playoff appearance (1 LCS) *three out of four seasons of 80+ wins*

Are you sure those teams would be quick to pull the trigger? All four of the other GM's had much worse resumes than our two GM's have had over the past 13 years or so.

Out of the three current GM's, Antonetti is the only one that hasn't had more than one 90 loss season.

Seems to me both Pissburgh & KC were patient with their guys and gave them every opportunity to improve the club, even moreso than we have, actually
