Dream Team 4: Golden State Warriors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Last year they didn't have the confidence of being an NBA champion.

Steph Curry looks like a completely different player from last year to this, and it is all because of that confidence that comes with actually closing the deal like they did.

They are beatable, but they are also gaining such tremendous confidence right now that a hard task is starting to border on near impossible having to beat them with home court 4 times in 7 games.

They are a completely different team from last year as that confidence of being a champion is like a force field right now that seems impenetrable.

This. Exactly. Hard to break their confidence and everyone seemed to be improved as well not only Steph. Hope Ky and all the guys return soon in order for us to gel and work on every wrinkle.

I disagree. That team was unbelieveably cocky last year. Most of the reason people didn't like them is because they acted like they were the greatest when they hadn't won shit. Their attitude is the same as it was last year, arrogant and annoying.

Look, the team is hot. If they would have started 5-4 and then rattled off 15 in a row would the reaction be the same? The Hawks won 19 in a row last year... and then lost 4 in a row when it mattered. Golden State beat a Denver team missing 3 starters (as if they weren't bad enough). The regular season has HUGE talent disparity for a lot of games. I watched that Denver game last night. A large number of shots the Warriors took were wide open. You play a lot of shit teams in the regular season. Teams that end up going bye bye come playoff time. I am not saying they can't/won't beat great teams. What I am saying is they will not shoot 41.6% from 3 in the postseason. Last year they shot 39.8 in the regular season and 37.4 in the postseason. Defenses step up. There are no Denvers.

Again not saying they aren't a great team. They are. I personally think we will be playing the Spurs, but would not be surprised at a repeat. I would be surprised if the repeat had the same outcome.

The comparison to the Hawks doesn't hold up. The Hawks showed their win streak was fools' gold with their performance in the playoffs while the Warriors proved they were the best team in the NBA by winning it all. Yes the Warriors are cocky and piss many of us off to no end, but the bottom line is they have the right to be cocky - they are the best team in the league by a significant margin right now and they are the defending champions. Many people keep saying they'll regress at some point but when they've been so consistently good for over a year now I don't think anyone can objectively doubt them any more.

I'll take Lebrons will over Steph Curry's confidence. Regular season means horse shit.

I care about health and health alone. We beat any team in 6 games or less if we are relatively healthy.

If Golden State wants to play to win the regular season, that's fine. They'll regret doing so later on. But I'm confident they're not foolish enough to do so. Minute reductions late in the season will cost any team a few wins but it's necessary.

Essentially, this echoes the sentiment throughout this thread: They aren't losing less than 10.

Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again: They are long, long overdue for some bad luck. It's statistically impossible to stay this healthy for this long.

If they keep this up then our Christmas game will be EPIC, one of the most hyped regular season games in NBA history. They will arrive at 28-0, just having passed Lebron's Heat for the second longest winning streak in NBA history and gunning for the Lakers record 33 straight.

But I don't expect them to stay undefeated even until our game with them at Christmas. There's a reason that only two teams in NBA history have ever pulled off winning streaks of 25 games plus, and those two only did it once apiece.

I'm actually excited that they are having such an easy road with virtually 0 adversity.

I expect that to bite them in the behind when the playoffs roll around.

Beating them at Oracle arena on Christmas day would probably help OUR confidence that regardless of their record, we'll take them out on the road.

If we need any confidence against this team (or any team for that matter) then LeBron isn't doing his job as a leader. (he is)

This team should believe they can and should beat anyone. Because it is true.

Ive never been bothered by the Warriors "cockiness" because they are just having fun playing a game. When LeBron would spend entire fourth quarters dancing on the side line, how do you think that was looked at by opposing teams and fans? Like he was a cocky bitch. But its still just a game and he was just enjoying it. I know Im different than most, though. I enjoyed Terrell Owens touchdown celebrations and Deion Sanders highstepping when most didnt. I just think players playing with joy makes it more fun to watch.

Pat Riley is drinking the Koolaid, talking about how GS could be becoming a dynasty before our eyes.

They are the two most dynamic players in the backcourt, that I have ever seen, since Jerry West and Gail Goodrich,” Riley said. “Go back and check their numbers, 25 points apiece and Jerry leading the team in assists, Gail shooting close to 50 percent or whatever it was. Both of them could shoot it, could drive it, could pass it. That’s what you’re seeing here.”

It’s been more than 40 years, and Riley’s recollection of the numbers hasn’t faded. Goodrich and West combined to average 51.7 points per game in that 1971-72 season; Curry (32.7 in 15 games) and Thompson (16.6 in 14 games) are combining for 49.8 points per game this season.

“They are in the beginning of something that can be dynastic,” Riley said. “They’re in the beginning stages of it and that’s the scary part, versus somebody that catches lightning in a bottle one time. They’re at the beginning because all of their key players, all of them, are young and they’re talented. The ones that aren’t have what I call youth-age, like Andre Iguodala, Andrew Bogut, Shaun Livingston — those guys bring an element to the team is incredible.”

I believe that the Warriors have the Cavs players FULL attention (that's a pretty easy deduction honestly based off of LeBron's public comments..).. and will cause our guys to keep pushing every game and not take nights off. It's actually pushing the Cavs to keep our own pace up. I know it seems easy to assume the Warriors will have the NBA's best regular season record, and I think they probably will, but we will push them. These two teams will keep one another aware and sharp. Especially once we get healthy. A finals rematch will be historically epic. And we, if healthy of course, can beat them.

Anyway, here's to hoping we are healthy and clicking come Christmas Day.

These would be valid points if the Warriors weren't coming off a championship, with their entire team back. They aren't trying to prove something with this streak like the Hawks were last year, they're just re-affirming their greatness.
Not their entire team

Pat Riley must be high. Curry has been playing out of this world so far this year, but Klay Thompson has been relatively average.
