The Andre Drummond Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thought it was funny that in the same post, you said TT had a bad rookie year yet followed that up with "high upside" and Torn said Drummond came into the league playing at his peak already lol.

But let's cut to the chase. Sure, we needed to address all the holes but you don't reach for players when there are other players that were more obvious like Gouri said. If you reach, that pick better hit or you fucked it up. So now we have Dion coming off the bench. Make all the excuses you want, our #4 pick who was suppose to be drafted as our starting SG is coming off the bench.

1. It's stupid to compare anything I say to what Torn says. We're not the same person and we have different viewpoints. And my point was that we had already drafted Thompson and seen his work ethic coupled with his athleticism and college predictive play. He did have high upside. Would he realize it? Who knew at that point, but considering the only four on the board (Robinson) was on the same level as several other picks we could have made in the top ten (including Waiters), it made little sense to draft him. And, in retrospect, it looks like we made the right call.

2. Waiters was no more of a reach than Drummond. In fact, Waiters was ahead of Drummond on most 2012 mock drafts, most of which had Golden State taking him at seven. The Cavs needed a long-term two, a three, and a five going into the 2012 draft, and you could have made an argument for a four too. They drafted a two who was projected to go in the top ten and higher than Drummond in most mocks. I really don't see the reach there.

3. I don't really see the relevance of Dion coming off the bench. Harden came off the bench for Oklahoma City. Did that make him a waste of a pick at number three? Dion may be coming off the bench, but he's also averaging ten more minutes per game than the guy starting in front of him. Really, just a terrible argument, although given who's making it that's not much of a surprise.

4. As far as the pick hitting, can you explain to me how the Dion pick hasn't hit? He's clearly improving on where he was last year at this time. His shot selection is better, he's drawing fouls and finishing at the rim better than he was at the start of the season, he's shooting over 40% from three (his outside shooting was a criticism last year), he's distributing the ball and playing within the offense, and he's playing solid to good defense. Is he a finished product? Of course not, but I don't see how anyone can watch Dion the past two or three weeks and not see his potential. If you want to go by PER as a metric, Waiters is the fourth best rookie from the top ten behind Davis, Lillard, and Drummond. He's ahead of Beal, Barnes, MKG, Robinson, and the rest.

So Torn, if we drafted Drummond would you trade him straight up for Dion? 5th time asking. :D

Theres no right answer to that question.
What I wouldnt be doing is crying on here making a monument to Dion Waiters and how Chris Grant blew the draft.

Brah, you made long post inferring this and that off of a one liner (well two short one liners)....let's top cause everything that was debated about drafting Drummond is being rehashed again and again. Let's just agree on one thing, CG fucked up the pick by picking the wrong guy.

Your random bolding of that specific TT statement Jack made was confusing and I was trying to understand what you were implying by it. Obviously it wasn't just me confused considering that Jack posted right after me with basically the same thing.

And your various alterations and usage of brah/bruh is awesome and not the least bit douchey

If there is no right answer then why can't you answer it? So the question still remains.

So Torn, if we drafted Drummond would you trade him straight up for Dion? 8th time.

Question makes no sense if we drafted drummond then the parameters change. why trade for a guy you could of just went and picked.

ask all you want. it isnt worthy of an answer and any answer would be taken out of context.

So you are saying you don't trust your stats to make a decision on basketball relevant topics like that question?

This thread gives me a headache.

I agree and we did not draft him bottom line. Also TT had a career night. Lets root for what we got. We wont get him In a trade. and honestly I like our back court as It Is now. All I can do Is wish him the best as he Is playing with a chip on his shoulder this year.

Hello, Torn. Would you trade him for Dion. Just answer the question, please. :D

mAo please just stop arguing with Torn. You guys are running it into the ground. He is not going to agree with you. It's getting pointless and clogging up the thread. For the record I agree with you but there is no point in fueling the fire because the argument will never end. Nothing wrong with discussing Drummond and debating about him and Dion but it's pretty obvious that Torn's stance isn't gonna change no matter what happens at this point.

I am not arguing with him. I was asking a simple black and white question. If he could just answer then that's it. I think he does not want to face the reality that he was wrong about Drummond.

Man if WAS, CLE, GSW or even SAC paired Drummond with Wall/Irving/Curry/Cousins(mother of god if it works), it would've been a franchise changer. Especially GSW. Holy smokes if they had Curry Klay Drummond, what a fit...

TOR Terrence Ross over Drummond is just the worst one though. I mean at least take Lamb over Ross. At least Grant probably thought Waiters was a star. Infuriating part about the Ross pick is nothing from the Raptors indicating they they had a gem and star instead of a role player. Very little enthusiasm or hyping of Ross after the pick, unlike marketing Derozan and JV as stars. Pick was some combination of a) A shooter would fit great with Steve Nash b) We don't want to pair another C with Valanciunas and stunt his development c) Dwane Casey likes Ross and developing Drummond will be hard so let's not put that on him or even d) Bargs is still the future beside JV. So they make a pick based on a 37 FA who hasn't signed, a C who hasn't played yet, a crappy coach and one of the most overpaid players in the league. Chandler Bing: Could Bryan Colangelo BE any more incompetent?

Hello, Torn. Would you trade him for Dion. Just answer the question, please. :D

Can you take your issue with him to PM's or something.

Asking if he would trade for Dion every 3rd post is really kind of ruining this thread right now.

Start a thread devoted to the topic if it is that important to you.
