The Dog Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Best dog I ever had was a mutt named Ben. He was 1/2 cocker spaniel and 1/2 dachshund. Ate table scraps, lived to be about 16. Most loving affectionate dog you'd ever meet. Also had a Dalmatian, lovable, but dumb as fuck.

On a side note, I took Hobbes to the vet today and he has a clean bill of health. Now has a collar and tag.

this poor dog.. I give her a weekly flea bath, ive replaced her bed... She is just so itchy.

Im still waiting on receiving big money and Im broke bc of the deposit on the new place I had to pay, so are there any suggestions on inexpensive and efficient flea remedies? The best Ive heard of is 'revolution' which is prescribed by a vet.. I think the shit is 12 a montha nd the visit is 40 bucks. SO anything that could beat 160 would be awesome

If you give her monthly flea medication and she's still itchy, it might be allergies. Try switching her to a grain free food. That tends to help a lot, although it can be a bit pricey. I feed my dogs Taste of the Wild Prairie, which runs about 45-50 bucks for a thirty-pound bag. Otherwise, just buy monthly flea treatment from Wal-Mart. Shit's over the counter and costs less than the standard vet stuff.

Also, if you're buying flea treatment from the vet and they charge you for the visit to pick it up, you're going to the wrong vet. I pick up my flea/heartworm supplement monthly from my vet, and I never get charged for a check-up unless I literally bring my dog in for a check-up. They don't charge me for vet time unless I actually schedule it and what not. I buy one month at a time, but only because my dogs are in different weight classes and it's annoying to buy six months of both at once.

morgo is much bettter since I picked up some stuff from walmart. Not 100%, but much better. I locked away her dogbed, which Im sure is the source of the evil. Thanks for the advice.

Here is our new addition, a 120# Great Dane. We buried our Dalmation about two years ago, and we've been waiting for the kids to get a bit older before we get another one. One of my wife's friends ended up getting a divorce, was moving from a house to an apt, and was unable to find a home for her Dane, so she put out a FB post asking for help. Wifey brought it to my attention, and after a few days of thinking about it, I gave it the thumbs-up.

Super sweet dog, Danes truly are gentle giants; she's been really gentle with 5y/o daughter and 3y/o son.

I like your catapult/noose.

LOL. I built the Pullup bar/power rack rig when we first moved into the house; my wife was eyeballing that area for some kind of Smoker's Escape place for her cig breaks, so I had to DeeBo it quick. I still use it for pullups, but added the rope so my kids can climb on it, or use it for a swing. They fucking love that swing.

And it's great for my midget friends to choke themselves while they jerk off....consider that an invitation, Chardon:chuckles:

A good friend of mine got in a car wreck last night (he's ok) and his dog bolted and is now missing. It happened on Madison Ave. in Lakewood. If anyone sees this dog or knows it's whereabouts, holler at me. Her name is Mo. Thanks.

Obviously I'm not going to be much help in the search, but hope your friend finds his dog.

Loki is ready for the draft tomorrow, which happens to be on his 6th birthday. First time he's worn this thing since the Cavs were in the playoffs (had to make sure it still fit). He'll be wearing it tomorrow when I head to World of Beer to watch the draft.

And yes...I have a Cavs rug too.

My hound Gabby killed a rabbit in the winter and went for a much more challenging kill last night and almost got herself disemboweled. Around midnight I heard her screeching and making this awful noise in the back. When I opened the door our terrier ran out to check it out. Gabby had a big ass raccoon pinned in the corner of our fence and was sort of boxing with it. When I got out there, my dog was shrieking like hell and my other dog ran up and it escalated from there. The raccoon started swiping at my dog and growling and was barely missing her. I kept yelling at both dogs and the terrier ran away, but the hound kept trying to smack the raccoon and the raccoon kept trying to smack her. I finally got up about a foot away and the raccoon went wild and finally scrambled up the fence and hissed and growled at all three of us assholes from up there.

Picked both dogs up and ran them inside. The little fucker sat on top of my fence and looked up towards our window at least until I went to sleep which was about an hour later. Thing looked like it was more pissed off than scared and did not seem to hesitate to try to shred a 40lb dog.

The best part about this is that earlier in the day I kept making comments about how I'd like to take Gabby out in the woods and see if she could kill something since it had been a while since the rabbit. I hadn't made a comment like that in months, bizarre coincidence.

Damn. Did she get scratched up or anything?

I've been down in Arkansas all summer for work. I won't be moving back up to Ohio until mid August and haven't seen my pup since mid May. I miss that little shit. I have her staying with family back in Cleveland so that she's not home alone 5 days a week down here all summer. I can't wait to see her go nuts when she sees me again for the first time. It'll be fun.

In the meantime I've been getting picture updates.
