The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm completely opposite of Doc here... I bought Oblivion and gave it up after a few hours.... should I buy this game? Everything I'm reading looks great but I don't want to waste another fifty or sixty bucks.

combat is a lot better, which i feel like has been the main downfall at times for the elder scrolls games

It doesn't feel that different to me, maybe it's just my character type. I feel like I just swing my sword around.

Is it just me or is this game really laggy. It seems like as soon as I leave a town its just constantly lagging. It's really starting to annoy me.

As someone who loved Morrowind, but hated Oblivion, I love Skyrim. Go figure?

If you're playing on PS3, once you get like 10 MB of save data, the game starts to lag. Pretty bad glitch

Yeah, the melee combat is slightly better than Oblivion but, there's absolutely no feeling of weight behind it at all. Feels like you're hitting air.

Magic on the other hand is great.

I've never played a straight warrior type class in any of the elder scrolls games because it seems like it would be the same thing every fight, whack whack whack, loot. I really like combat when playing a stealthy character. You have to scout out a good position without being seen, frontload as much damage as possible from a distance and dodge/stun/hide from the tougher opponents when they close on you because up close in your face they'll crush you. You can't just stand there like its rockem sockem robots or you'll die, you have to be very active, which means its never boring.

The regular run of the mill bandit you can just slaughter in 1 or 2 hits at a certain point with any class/playstyle, so I wasn't really talking about those. But the boss and special NPC fights can be pretty crazy.

I don't think you understand how awesome my mace dual weilding warrior class looks when he's running. Or how awesome he looks in Beast Form *werewolf* You just clearly don't.

And you don't know how awesome my assassin looks because you never see him before you die :p

This game is about 10000000000x better than Oblivion. Oblivion sucked, but Morrowind was the shit. This game is better than ES:MW so...yeah.

Oblivion was the only ES game I played before this. I have a suspicion that I'm gonna start to get into this game as I get further along, but like I said earlier, I've been crazy busy and haven't been able to long more than an hour or so at a time. Total I've probably played 4 hours and most of that has been running around and just exploring/stealing shit. That's my problem I think, I need to get more involved with the quests/guilds. I started to like it a lot more once I joined the thieves guild.

My flight leaves at 6 am so I'll be back home with nothing to do pretty damn early tomorrow, I plan on logging a lot of play time since I'll be too tired to do much of anything else.

Bethesda better come out with a patch for the ps3 soon. All the frame rate drops and the ridiculous amounts of lag is making this game unplayable.

How do you as a developer not catch a HUGE problem like that? If they were all playing and testing the game you would think it wouldn't be too hard to catch that the game starts lagging like crazy once you get a big enough save file.
