The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This game is really, really, really laggy like most of you are saying. I paid 60 bucks to think my PS3 is froze every 15 seconds when the character stops moving. It's really making the game hard to play. At the same time i've played way longer than I would like to have by this point. I've had it for a week and i've put more time into it than I did into COD 4.

Just bought a new computer and got this game too. Glad to see there is no problems with PC version being discussed, Jon...

Kinda glad I haven't bought this for PS3 yet... I won't get frustrated before they patch it.

Just saw a dragon be reborn outside the main quest. Pretty awesome.

I got this earlier this week only been able to start it up twice so far but when i do i cant put it down.

I'm playing the PC version with graphics set on ultra on a 3 year old PC and it looks mind boggling while running smooth as butter. I was half expecting to need to upgrade my PC, but out of the box it ran flawlessly, well actually I installed the day 1 patch before I started playing so it ran flawlessly with the day 1 patch. There are some mods out there that make the game look and run better too, higher resolution textures, memory tweaks, post processing filters, etc. Not to mention there's a few pretty annoying "features" of the game that are fixed with community mods, like the awful inventory and the even more awful perk tree setup they went with.

After reading about all the issues the PS3 version is having I'm really glad I didn't decide to play it on a console. I'm 100% satisfied with the PC version.

I got a new PC and this game coming this weekend! Been out of gaming for a few years now, but I'm really looking forward to getting back into it now...

Where's Jon at... :chuckles:

How do you as a developer not catch a HUGE problem like that? If they were all playing and testing the game you would think it wouldn't be too hard to catch that the game starts lagging like crazy once you get a big enough save file.

Because they had an extremely closed beta test with developer PS3s with testers that did not actually play the game for fun, but barrelled through as fast as possible. A friend of mine is a beta tester and level designer. Companies reward speed and detailed write-ups far more than accurate reporting or searching for glitches. It's unfortunate, and its also why companies should strongly use DRM-driven open-beta tests (think Halo betas as an example).

It sucks but many companies want the 'quick official' stamp of approval. Especially now. Getting to market is more important than proving it out beforehand because you can patch.

Sadly, it is how it is now.

Ah yes, or as I like to call it, the EA affect.

Personally I don't like glitches, but at the same time I have used the build an iron dagger 500000 times to get to level 100 trick. This game is just so massive compared to other games of a similar nature that I have played. I've alreay played more than three times as much on this than I did on Dragon Age 2 my first go around. I think i've actually played more on this than all three play throughs on DA2 (played with every character).
