The thing with the Lakers this year is there's just so many different things that are really hurting the team. I'm a Lakers fan. Our offensive game has looked pretty great the past few weeks, but this team plays shoddy defense and blows leads like no other. We're just so distinctly mediocre on a high level, it blows my mind. I don't really think it's all on D'Antoni, either. It's a combination of a lot of different things - injuries, chemistry issues, etc - that honestly, I'm starting to think this team would be better off cleaning house and starting to rebuild now.

Kobe is really doing all he can to get things going, but it's tough with this squad. I guess we still have a shot at a 7/8 seed or something, but it'll require a hell of a run and I'm not sure the team really has it in them this year. I'm already starting to look towards the 2014 offseason, when we'll have tons of cap space and can start over.

The Lakers suck. It didn't work for the Rockets in the late 90s with Barkley, Drexler, and Hakeem. It didn't work with Kobe, Shaq, Payton, and Malone. Now it's not going to work with Kobe, Nash, Pau, and Dwight.

I remeber when the trade first happend and 2days later a article came out saying that magic players told kobe they wont like dwight and they were right, the hell is he laughing about

If I'm Boston, why would I make that trade? If I want Dwight so bad, I'd try and sign him when he's a free agent this summer.

Anyway Dwight has supposedly been told by management that he's not getting traded this year.

As a Lakers fan, this is intriguing to say the least. I haven't been opposed to a Howard trade all year, and I think Rondo is a nice return. I'd prefer getting someone else though.

The thing about it is, Howard has been very hesitant publicly to commit to LA, and his statements have gotten increasingly more vague. Honestly, I don't think he's going to re-sign here.

I still don't understand the reports about the Celtics looking to trade Rondo. he's their best player, one of the best point guards in the league, great attitude, fiercely loyal to the franchise and the cornerstone of what's going to become of the team when Pierce and Garnett hang 'em up. Why would you look to trade that for a center who is notorious now for having a lousy attitude, and doesn't seem to have any sense of loyalty and little to no apparent brain activity?

Rondo has a bit of an attitude problem. It's come out several times and he's been suspended for it. There's also whispers that he butts heads with Doc Rivers.

Still, i'd rather have guy like rondo who plays with a chip on his shoulder and is willing to get his hands a little dirty than someone like howard who, the moment things start turning south simply quits, and bitches and refuses be held accountable for any of his shortcomings.

Assuming this year ends in failure for the Lakers (by Kobe's standards), and more shit hits the fan in the media (player comments, dissing Dwight, etc), and Howard goes to Houston or wherever, I look forward to next year. A healthy, recovered, stronger Dwight Howard might actually be motivated to put some serious hurtings on the Lakers next season. Dwight Howard against the Lakers will be all the hype. Revenge, making a point and whatnot. Should be fun!
