Not every single fucking statement regarding Tristan has to include a comment about Jonas and vice-versa. Same goes for Dion and Drummond. Why can't we just watch players all over the league, including those who play for the Cavs, develop. Period. I'm intrigued by what Jonas may become. I love what I see Tristan becoming. I don't give a shit who was drafted or what not. It's over.
Jonas is going to be a quality big man in the NBA at minimum. I don't think he's good enough to be a centerpiece, however. I'd also like to see him take ownership of some sort of leadership role on that team off the court. It has to be well known in that locker room that he's the front office's golden boy.
Yes, you can see that on the court. Lowry, Gay and Derozan freeze him out for long periods of time. I wonder if there is a locker room veteran influence there. Casey is not as bad of a coach as he has looked this year and I think a big part of it is that his most mature players are guys like the immature Lowry and Amir Johnson. Ironically, Tyler Hansbrough was a pretty good signing for them, but Casey gets too caught up on playing him at center and Novak at PF to spread the floor for the wings who cant shoot.
Vazquez is his own kind of guy, not a follower and plays the game the right way though he's limited in athleticism. Good solid PG, a younger Livingston with better playmaking and less mobility. The sooner they trade Lowry, they will be a better team who moves the ball better on the offensive end. I think Derozan will have a high usage but he's not the kind of personality who clashes as much as Gaye and Lowry, at least I dont think from what I have seen of him. He's kind of a Kyrie kind of moody but much better off the ball and finishing.
As the locker room stabilizes, this kid will be fine. They need to hit the jackpot this summer in the lottery for sure, if they DID and got a guy like Wiggins I could see them having a good 2-3 pieces to start plugging in holes with. (JV, Ross or Derozan, #1 pick)
I cant stress enough that I LOVE Masaj Ujiri. I love Rich Cho too, and Bob Myers out in GSW. All three of those teams are clubs in good hands and I expect them all to be ok with their front offices as constructed.
But back to Jonas. His talent is there, and he needs the surroundings to be stronger to support his development now. He's on par to develop into a Hibbert kind of center, honestly.
