Kendrick Perkins - Canton's Enforcer

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I hope Griffin can find a Aaron Brooks like sort of cheap backup PG who can eventually score and run the point. This would make Delly perfect as a very situational player, just like Marion, Perkins and Miller.

Smith will be bringing the ball up the court with the second unit once Shumpert moves into a starting role.

I don't really think "bench scoring" is the issue many seem to think it is. When you have the offensive diversity that we have and two great creators, guys will have good games here and there to fill in. You never play an entire "bench" lineup at the same time so as long as there are starters out there that can score with those bench guys... you're good.

Case in point, we scored 127 points last night on the team that's 9th in the league in defensive efficiency on their home court. Who'd we have coming off the bench? Shumpert, Thompson and Delly(and others in garbage time). We had 94 through 3 quarters and it's not like we were shooting way over our heads either. This wasn't due to Shump, Thompson and Delly scoring. They had a combined 26 points for the game and much of that came from garbage time. Shump did have some nice shots early and I'd argue he's more than just a "defense first" guy, he's actually an above average offensive player.

When you have Kyrie OR LeBron playing at a high-level, you'll score some points because of what they create for themselves and others. When both are hitting, it gets ridiculous. If Kevin Love ever gets to consistently being the Love we saw against the Lakers, God help this league...

Fully agreed.

I'm confident Love will become the player as expected, because it seems clear that his offense has been really affected by a back problem. When he mesh in offensively, it will be really crazy.

I don't think Shumpert will move to a starting role. JR has meshed in too well.

But yes it would be an ideal scenarium. JR looks better bringing it up than Shumpert.

I said the same thing when we acquired him, but I'm starting to doubt this happens. Smith has looked far better between Irving and James than anyone thought possible. I wouldnt be surprised if they decided to just keep the good times rolling with Swish in the starting 5 at this point.

The Delly concerns are overblown for the small role he'll be asked to fill going forward...

couldn't agree more. i think one of the main reasons why we all wanted to see Shump in the starting lineup at some point was his defense but Smith has been surprisingly solid in that area. the guy has been a revelation to be honest. i thought we would get an older version of Dion, instead we have a guy who spreads the floor, tries hard on defense (i remember a defensive possession yesterday when we were up 22 i think, the game was basically over and he was flying around on the perimeter like it was a close playoff game) and for all the chucker talk makes some really smart plays (and passes). as long as he's playing with this type of intensity i wouldn't make a change, the fact that Shump has been fantastic off the bench helps as well...

Great news. give him 12 mins a game take some burden off Moz and T,T awesome.

Lol...

But yeah, Perkins sucks. Ask any OKC fan.. He's garbage.

I know, I know... some folks are hype, but sorry, this dude is not any good.

Wish we had gone after a different player for our 4th big, but whatever; this isn't the position that's going to make or break us. I've still got the Cavs as a slight favorite to win it all.

He's a locker room kinda guy. He brings toughness and playoff experience.

From what I remember, every single Boston Celtic player and coach was pissed when Ainge traded him.

That's all you need to know about Perkins.

The big three
Who's the dude in the middle? Jones?

Guys like Peja and Brian Cardinal were pretty lousy NBA players by the time the Mavs won their title. But that's because how we define a player is usually if you distill it down would you want that guy seeing 20 plus minutes a game on your favorite team. I don't think anybody wanted Peja or Cardinal that year or Perkins this year seeing those many minutes on a regular basis.

But the difference between a title and no title can come down to having a role player who can bring one specialist attribute that your more competent players don't have. The Mavs won with Peja playing a big role in WCF and then Carlisle benched him and got valuable minutes with freaking Brian Cardinal in the Finals. If we had this year's Perk in Lebron ' s first Cleveland run we would have crushed Orlando and this year we may need him if we face specific team like Chicago or Memphis or we need someone to throw a hard foul if some team tries to rough up our guys.

Its funny how everywhere perk goes hes being praised and every one loves him. What we need is another enforcer and we got one, once again this move is very underrated just like when we aquired jr. He will fit perfectly for this team as we go on our quest for that championship we seek. Just buckle up and enjoy the ride cause we are set to go to war!!!! Go cavs!!!!!!

I mentioned this in S34 I think, but I'll mention it here as well. Living in the Boston area at the time, I can confirm this. Most of the players and coaches were absolutely pissed.
