The Rise of Skywalker spoilers thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You do realize Star Wars has always been rediculously campy. You just saw the original movies as such an age it made sense. I bet now if you saw little teddy bears smashing and destroying AT ATs with rocks in a jungle you would say "wow, wtf is this cartoonish crap-- no way this happens"

This is why Im not all fucked up about the Leia floating scene. I find it humorous more than anything.

While I agree with this, I still found Leia floating to be stupid.

I fucking hated the Ewoks right from the start. I was rooting for the Stormtroopers.

That being said, it was clearly throwing one bone to younger kids, in an otherwise very good movie. Hated it, but I can tolerate a bit of pandering to little kids. And kids at the time did love it, and those who are adults today are still at least fond of them.

Leia flying was inexplicable, and inexcusable. The only people to whom they could have been pandering are retards. Nobody liked that scene. Except, again, possibly retards.

I truly believe they saw the scene in the film room, looked around uncomfortably at each other, and just said "fuck it. It's Star Wars, and they're not going to walk out over one shitty scene."

The scene was a fucking insult to the audience. And it was in a movie that was otherwise pretty shitty as well.

This might be the greatest post ever.

I found the Ewoks to be stupid too, and that shit doesn't hold up at all to a re-watch at age 30+.

However, the Ewoks are still miles better than basically all the garbage in the prequels and the new one was dumb as shit too. Force Awakens was bad, but not offensively bad like the prequels and the new one.

Why even watch or comment on Star Wars at all if everything is so stupid?

In age I am growing to appreciate some of it for what it is. Like now, I can go back and watch Episode 1 with real enjoyment-- nostalgia mixed with liking it for what it is.

Do not get me wrong, I have shit on a lot of the new stuff. Just seems like every single post here now is shitting on it. You would think this was a thread about Donald Trump at this point.

It's what the Internet is. Everybody hates everything and wants the world to know. Or, more specifically, there is always a segment who hates something no matter how good or bad it actually is, and is willing to tell you all about it. It's why you can see a great movie (not saying TLJ was great, lol, it was not good) and come to the Internet excited to post your thoughts and instantly see someone breaking down why it's mediocre or worse.

It's mostly worse. :chuckle:

Because this is a Star Wars thread and Star Wars kind of sucks at this point (Rogue One excluded), so you're going to see people complain about Star Wars. When Rogue One came out, basically everyone was talking about how great it was. They followed Rogue One up with a bad movie and then an underwhelming movie, so the mood has shifted. If the next movie is great, you'll see the mood shift again.

I can assure you, nobody will ever say the next movie is great, no matter what they do. :chuckle: Expectations are just off the rails, or rather they were. Maybe they are toned down a bit now.

Hard to call Solo underwhelming though when it was actually better than anyone expected.

Or it’s not :chuckle:

The prequels are really slow. Revenge of the Sith is the most watchable. I did enjoy them more the last time I watched cause i watched this first and I think it is totally true that Jar Jar was meant to be Palpatines boss

Rewatched TLJ for the first time as it was just added to Netflix...

Truly a horrible movie. I won't watch the next one in theaters unless family drags me there over the holidays.

Don't think I can ever take these movies seriously anymore. Just kids stuff.
