Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Huge Sansa fan personally. Martin forces his characters to adapt or die. Sansa made a dumb mistake, putting her own interests before her family, and paid a significant price. But she adapted, she survived, and came out the wiser for it. Right now, in the books and the show, she still seems to be a pawn. But I get the sneaking suspicion that she is fully aware of her situation, and at some point she'll be given the opportunity to take control of her own fate. As she has spent significant time talking with a bit too honest version of Petyr, she has learned a great deal about how to "play the game" and I fully expect her to become a significant force in her own right.

People drawing comparisons between her and Margaery are spot on. Arya is on the path to become more like the Targaryen chick who wielded Dark Sister. Sansa is on track to become the noblewoman Cersei dreamed of being.

Just watched the last 2 episodes last night and holy hell, Episode 6 was insane. What a great episode all together. Followed by episode 7...

Remember, as a non-book reader, I for sure thought Sansa was still going to get pushed down the hole after Littlefinger came in. But once she didn't push her in, I knew that hag was destined for doom.

Tyrion's final scene was epic.

Okay, back to the Cavs getting #1 :chuckles:

So what you're saying is if someone killed your spouse and then took two of your children and you had the opportunity to kidnap their imp son, you wouldn't do it?

Wut.

We're talking about like, episode 3.

The actress is great. Was voted the next Jennifer Lawrence by TVGuide.

That explains it then. Unpopular opinion I know, but I can't stand Jennifer Lawrence's "acting" either.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Huge season 5 casting news from Wic.net:

Prince Doran Martell – Doran is described as the major new player this year, appearing in multiple episodes. The fiftysomething prince uses a wheelchair, is reclusive and rules wisely. It appears the show is looking to continue the trend it started with Pedro Pascal, and cast Latino actors for the Martell clan.

Prince Trystane Martell – Trystane, the handsome fiance of Princess Myrcella, is being aged up to 18.

Areo Hotah - Doran’s personal bodyguard will appear throughout the season, assisting the prince with his duties. The show is particularly looking for a black actor to fill the role.

The Sand Snakes, Oberyn Martell’s bastard daughters (with ages ranging 18-25):

Obara Sand – The eldest and most athletic Sand Snake will be having a major fight scene with a series regular character- not one who crosses her path in the books. This is an interesting change.

Nymeria Sand – Nymeria is described as “mixed race,” with her father being the fairer Oberyn and her mother being darker skinned. The second oldest of these Sand Snakes, she’s beautiful, emotional and very strong.

Tyene Sand - The youngest of the Sand Snakes that we meet uses her wits and seductive powers, and is less of a physical fighter than the other Sand Snakes. She is just as deadly as her sisters, however, but her weapon is poison.

High Sparrow - The books’ pious head of a religious movement will be appearing in several episodes in season 5.

Septa Unella – The show is looking for a character actress to play the imposing and unrelenting septa who spends a lot of time with a major series character next year.

Maggy the Frog- A fortune teller in A Feast for Crows, she’ll be in one episode next year.

Lollys Stokeworth – Just last week in “Mockingbird,” Bronn announced his intention to marry Lollys, whom Tyrion considers “dimwitted.” It looks like the sellsword will still be around next year.

Yezzan - A sleazy Meereenese slave owner.

The Waif – The strange child from the books that Arya encounters will likely be played by an older actress, one in her later teens, and we understand the show is specifically looking for a woman of East Asian descent for the part.

Sounds like the list is not exhaustive (would hate to see them omit Arianne and the Greyjoys) but it's awesome that we're getting the three sand snakes... and Maggy the Frog!

Why age Trystane up to 18?

Weird. Too lazy to find another good child actor?

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

So he's older than Myrcella maybe? The actress is probably 16/17 at this point. My guess is that he's also replacing Quentyn.

How would that even make sense. You mean he'd be doing all the things Quentyn does? Doesn't jive.

No episode this Sunday FUCK

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

The fact that they aged up Trystane tells me that he may have a larger role to play in the future than I may have thought before hand. All of that is some very exciting casting news if true. Seems like there will be a lot of Dornish action next season!

Maggy the Frog??? Possible flashback? The show does not really do flashbacks though. Maybe she will make a certain prophecy in real time?

So who is the series regular that Obara Sand will be fighting? In the books she is the one who is
the most militaristic against the Lannisters in demanding vengeance. She also is gonna lead Balon swann to High Hermitage to hunt Darkstar.

Here is some interesting history on Obara for non readers that is not a spoiler: When her father (Oberyn) came to claim her when she was still a child, her mother (who was a whore in oldtown I think) did not want him to take her. He threw a spear down at her mother's feet and slapped her mother. Then Oberyn asked Obara which weapon, the spear or the tears, she would choose. Obara chose the spear. Her mother drank herself to death within a year.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

The show has its own thread now. No need to be wary of spoilers. Can't have your cake and eat it too. The whole point of two separate threads is so the master race doesn't have to block out huge amounts of text.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

I want that thread to die though.
