The Official True Detective Scene

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thought it was a decent episode.

We weren't going to get a lot of from the first episode anyway. They will build it slowly. But loved the ending scene. Also, Kelly Reilly is love. Those eyes. Damn!

I've been really surprised by how many critics/fans I've seen on the internet ripping the shit out of that episode.

Sure, it was slow. But they had to build a new world and introduce new characters.

I also think it's crazy that are acting like Justin Lin is some sort of cheap porn director that can't hold a candle to last season's director. Not to mention every saying that the characters are tropes and the writing is melodramatic.

I've seen multiple say that they wouldn't keep watching if it wasn't TD. Have people lost their goddamn minds or am I just crazy?

So many coincidences! Rachel McAdams investigates 2 different crimes....one being her sister as a possible hooker, the other involving her new age preacher dad. The odds are astounding. I was pretty sure that Taylor's Kitch's GF was the missing younger sister because everyone is connected in this damn show.

Pretty sure the cop is guilty of getting the "blowie". He was originally set up to be "the moral one" but eventually he was shown to be as messed up as the rest.

Vaughn and Farrell were pretty good, I thought, although now I gotta become a real estate mogul to understand half the scenes Vaughn is in.

Again, how? Guy had to fake taking a longer shower for his Viagra to kick in so his girlfriend could give him one.

It was certainly a convenient way for them to set up her character, but I thought that her raid of the cam house was brought on by rumors of her sister and so it wasn't a complete accident?

I think he's still moral, he just has PTSD. I took it as he didn't do it and she flipped the script on him, but that either his commander didn't believe him or was mad that he wasn't corrupt like the others on the force.

It's the same stuff that was going on in "The Wire." Bad guy tries to go straight by getting into the "legal" but mucky world of lobbying, i.e. bribing the right people to know which land to buy up, thus seeing the windfall of cash that comes from the feds needing that land for whatever project.

That's a good point. I hadn't considered that.

Maybe he's so f'ed up that when it's consensual, it's boring, but he gets his rocks off by more nefarious means?

Spoiler: All characters are fucked up, lol

Nah. I said it earlier in the thread and I'm sticking with it. It implied to me that he arrested her, she came in and claimed it was him who solicited the BJ from her and not the other way around when talking to his supervisors, and since she was some actress or some shit, they took her word for it and believed her.

So what does everyone think rachel mcadams' characters kink is that scared that guy at the start....im thinking she wears a woody harrelson mask in homage to season 1

People are fickle and restless.

It was one episode ffs. What do they expect? We all know, it was always going to be a mammoth task to live up to the quality of last season. Not just in terms of direction, story telling and acting, but also the whole philosophical aspect of it.

This season was bound to be different. But, still give them some time. Thats how story building and character building works. I am sure these are the same lot who would have lost their shit during the first two to three seasons of Breaking Bad.

She wanted him to lick her butthole in a flat, circular motion.

Love this song. Been on the loop for the past couple of hours!

I really liked last season. The tone of this one just makes it completely unrelated, which is OK.

Man it was a hard to follow episode. It maybe followed too many people or something. I'm gonna keep watching, but I don't get what is interesting about it yet.

Yeah, you basically had to introduce 4 new characters AND the murder that spurs the plot. It was exposition heavy.
