and wasn't he brought in a non-save situation and gave up two of those earned runs? everybody knows he isnt the same pitcher in those situations as opposed to save situations. so he's getting booed because acta is occasionally a dumbass. not exactly the brightest moment

Facts disagree with you.

Perez is 100 percent correct, I'm still undecided as to whether this was a good thing or not.

Shit, as this board has been evidence of at times, it's simply a fact people continue to deny and it needs to be said.

Not sure it needed to be said in that forum, at that time.

Biggest crowd of the year is 29K, I think that speaks for itself for a team seemingly so desperate to have a winner.

I agree. I go to a lot of games and have been embarrased at the attendance at almost every game I've seen this year (exceptions are opening day, yesterday and today). That said, if we continue to draw around 30k, I don't think anyone has a right to complain. I'll be really disappointed if we're not at 30k tomorrow and for the whole series against the Tigers (even with the day game Thursday).

Go Tribe.

i get that but they didn't on initial glance. i looked at the splits and saw 4.39 era and 4hrs given up the last two seasons in non-saves as opposed to 2.89 era and one hr given up in saves. but i just saw ipl's post that said if you take out a 4 run game against the white sox last season, his era drops to 3.02

i guess he just seems so much better in save situations. still no reason to boo the guy

In all seriousness...why do we think attendance did sharply increase this weekend?

Weather+Casino+1st Place Team...a mix of all three.

I agree. In addition to what you said, I think being the weekend has something to do with it (although that didn't help a few weeks ago against the Rangers). I think the biggest driver was the fact that we have not slowed down yet...our lead in the central has grown this week and people might finally be starting to believe.

something to do on a nice weather weekend. the team being in first helps as well. just aren't as many diehards anymore

Of course, many blackouts have been avoided over the past few years because the Browns basically buy the tickets.

This is actually exactly what I was getting at.

Good to see. Contrary to popular belief, I'd LIKE to see good attendance and 30k is a start.

I thought media did a full blitz on the attendance story. Really think that was a big part.

Surprisingly, the media seems to be extremely outgoing in their support for Perez's comments. You see a lot of the guys roll their eyes at the negative Tribe narrative, but rarely speak up much (and let Hoynes continue that negative message). My Twotter feed has been a ton of Cleveland media saying they agree with Perez.

I've seen that as well. I dabbled in sports reporting when I was in college and always liked the guys who were "real"...might be why. When you hear cliche after cliche, it's nice to hear someone speak from the heart.

Interleague play is a huge reason I think...the ability to see new teams that you don't always see every year, and players you don't often see.

If you lower your expectations just enough, 29K (or 65% capacity) might seem like a big deal.

Even if that was their average attendance, it would still rank in the bottom half of the league.

With that said, if this team averaged 29K a game I would be more than satisfied given their market size. I'm just saying.
