So Long, Mo Gotti Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I never once said anything about getting rid of Kyrie or Love. I'm merely saying one of them if not both have a high probability of going down.

I'm saying that we need to get players who can step up. Mo cannot in the post-season, he never did.

Kyrie is your star that you need to step up in the playoffs. There isn't some scrap you can sign for the minimum that will replace that.

Now, you know he has durability issues. That is why you bring in a regular season stud backup PG like Mo. Mo can eat up minutes during the regular season, so Kyrie is healthy for the playoffs.

Why is this difficult for you to wrap your head around?

No one is guaranteeing anything, both sides should cut out hyperbole, but I'll be damned if love hadn't had a17 game season and he had trouble all year bc of his back.. and idk Many ppl that would bet actual money on kyrie staying healthy.

You ask: what do we do? Trade and rebuild? No, but we sit here anxious as all Fuck and pray we pick up really strong bench pieces bx there's pretty good chances not all of our best players will be able to suit up at 100% in the finals next year.

We can't remain healthy? It's a given absolute that we won't be healthy?

So, what is your proposal that we do with Love and Kyrie? Trade them and rebuild?

Personally, I would take the approach that, in order to maximize your health going into the playoffs, you want to rest your starters as much as possible.

Bringing in Mo gives us the freedom to rest Kyrie as much as possible, by inserting a very capable backup PG who can take over Kyrie's shooting from the outside.

Are you trying to actually say that, regardless of how much rest we can provide to Kyrie and Kevin Love, that they will both be guaranteed to be injured this year? Because, if you are saying that, I'm not sure there's any point discussing things with you in an intelligent manner.

His point is that's what we had this year and we could not score outside of lbj, and that's almost literally.

You're asking which scorers the Cavs have beyond three of the top scorers in the league.

Start there.

So with Mo back we have the best and 3rd best pg this franchise have ever had.

All we need to do is bring back Mark Price to have the top 3 franchise pg's of all time. (Terell Brandon wasn't good until the Suns, and Miller is 4th best imo)

So who is with me? Bring back Mark Price for the final roster spot?

Mo changes the dynamic and expectation of the existing bench.

Assuming Delly and JR return, Mo's presence decreases both their minutes and the expectations from them on offense.

His presence also decreases the wear and tear on Kyrie.

It's not like they're just throwing a guy on the roster in a vaccuum. He decreases injury risk to everyone that he plays the same position as.

They will make more additions.

Yes, because he really showed up in the playoffs last time when we needed him.

Not liking this pickup. More of a Marketing / Fan attention grabber than anything else. Same deal with resigning Delly.

Mo couldn't hack it before, why the hell waste time on him now? He was a no-show before when it mattered most.
Because in the 2009 season he was our second option and he had a too much responsibility on his small shoulders! Now it is completely an all different situation where he knows that he is a bench player and can play mind-free.

I'd rather bring back Shaq so he can finally win a ring for the king.

What you're basically asking for is someone who can step in and play as a solid, starting quality PG if Kyrie goes down. But those guys are generally already starting -- for other teams.

I'd agree that as a starter for a playoff team, Mo wilted. Well, that's why we were able to get him as a backup. The biggest problem we had last year at the PG position wasn't that we didn't have a backup for Kyrie. It was that we didn't have a backup for our backup, and Delly was forced to play way too many minutes considering his style of play. And, there were particular matchups that just weren't good for him, but for which we didn't have any alternative.

The Delly/Mo combo is pretty decent, though. Against GSW, for example, you might put Delly in the game when Curry is playing the point, and stick Mo in there against Livingston. The contrast in play styles/capabilities is something a coach can really work with if KI goes down.

Anyone know if we're getting new jerseys? I want a Mo jersey, was thinking of a gold one. I wanted a TT one but I have SINCE changed my mind.....haha.

And my point is that if you take away the top three scorers off of any team, you're killing the team's chances of scoring.

Outside of LeBron the Cavs crushed teams on offense in the regular season with...Kyrie and Love.

I get it. Love and Kyrie are injury risks.

The point is that rather than worrying about what's going to happen if you lose your three top scorers, you add talent around them to lessen their playing time and expectations.

Mo is one step towards doing that. Other steps will be taken.

Chill.

So where does this signing leave us with regard to Delly and J.R.?

We are only getting a new alternate this year. (which is a disappointment :chuckle: )
With all the hassle involved, no chance we’re changing our primaries until Nike takes over the uniform manufacturing in 2018 or so.

If Griffin can trade him for unprotected first round pick that ends up winning the lottery, I will personally build and install a statue of Mo Williams on the corner of Huron and Ontario.

Which players that Cavs didn't get are people upset about right now?
