So Long, Mo Gotti Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I watched that several times just to hear the overall crowd reaction at the end. It's going to be cocaine for the ears when Mo receives his first response at the Q.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he retires a Cav.

I was out of Internet and cell service for the past nine days. This thread is...interesting.

First, Mo wasn't the best backup point guard the Cavs could have signed.
Next, this acquisition was compared to Lamarcus Aldridge.
Later, this signing was labeled bad because Mo struggled in the postseason in his last Cavs stint. He was at least adequate in 2010.
Eventually, Wesley Johnson was brought up as a guy the Cavs should have gone after in place of Mo Williams.
Finally people realize how great it is to have this guy and what he's all about back with the team, and we're starting to realize that he's a very good talent to be a bench player.

The guy put up over 17 a game post all-star break for a team that was fighting for a playoff berth. He knows how to play, and more importantly, over the last couple seasons with Utah/Minnesota/Charlotte, he's learned how to take on a veteran/mentor role.

He's going to be invaluable.

It's so great to see Mo in front of that "C" signing his papers...

Mo is one of the players of any Cavs team I grew up watching that had ever made me love a guy more than Mark Price. To me these are two such great men who while one better than the other has such merit. He felt Cleveland is home and you know what. That "C" and that man will forever be a true Cleveland boy.

Disclaimer. No I am not saying only real fans of the Cavs are from Cleveland. Arison is the reason for this disclaimer as all hate and wrongful use of a sports team and their fan should all go to him.

Mo would have mad a sizeable difference in the finals. He would he let delly just focus on defense. Obviously this guy is older but he is still a starter in this league and to have him back up Irving at this point is huge. He is probably going to mentor Kyrie too.

In the Finals mo definately would of took pressure of JR , Shumpert and Delly. Mo also has a knack for trading threeslike when Thompson and curry would burst out fir a few minutes late in the game.

Also as Mentioned Delly might not of been run to the ground and on life support for the last three games.

The biggest factor in the in finals was Iggy's ability to quarterback the help defense on lebron and anticipate what lebron was gonna do.
mo certinaly could of got the all out of lebrons hands and dirupted the timing of Golden states defense
Cavs definately would of been more likely to take it to 7. and maybe they dont lose that first game.

plus with mo the mozgov lineup whe lebron sat might of actually worked .

One thing that Mo brings to this team is mo trust his big men and will find the open guy around the paint. this should have a positive impact on an area of Irvings gaame that Irving has been working to improve.

Mo already has down what Delly has been trying to add to his game. Solid addition much bettter option than jeremy lin or the other point guards the Cavs could of brought in.

Overall its a minor dynamic but a positive one nonetheless.

Plus im not sure people realize that he can get Love the ball in the elbow and the post already in socirng position.

From Lloyds latest article/Griffins summer league presser:

On the return of Mo Williams:
“For me the beauty of Mo is more in his floor spacing and shooting even more than his play creation. Now if we’re in the situation we were in the Finals last year we’re going to need the ability to break people down. But we’ve already got three really ball dominant, special play creator types so I see him playing off the ball a good amount, too. He enables us to do the same thing with Kyrie.

Mo’s signing is a really big deal for us. It really gives us a level of versatility I wish we had in the Finals.”

I don't blame you, that guy drives me crazy. Can we trade him to CavFanatics?

Kyrie and Mo on the court together will be pretty interesting...at least when we have the ball it will.

You know what... When you look at Mo you see in Kyrie what we needed in Mo the first time around. However Mo can only mentally help Kyrie and I think they will have a nice Older to younger brother relationship. Kyrie is in good hands all the way around, as well is Love.

Mo shot a little over 41% on catch-and-shoot 3 pointers last year, basically identical to JR Smith and Delly but worse than Kyrie (46%). You have to think he'll be a little more open on the Cavs then he was on Minny/Charlotte though.

I do think that his creative abilities, beyond just shooting, will be very big for us on our bench squad though. Less important if we can turn Kevin Love into more of a facilitator from the elbow, but still a very big change in what we can do when two or three of the big 3 are sitting.
