The Sony Hack...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My wife is an international insurance expert, some ideas that came up over dinner last night:

1. Sony is a Japanese owned company. Sure, the U.S. might control their operations for the most part, but this was a devastating statement from a major company neighboring Korea.

2. Our government is at a critical point right now with insurance against terrorist attacks. Since 9/11, insurance companies have been chipping into a pool of insurance money in case of another terrorist attack. The standard operating procedure is now being blocked by one boneheaded Republican congressman from Oklahoma.

Because of this, companies and the government might be treading lightly.

AMEN! MY MAN B.O.!!!!!!!! Fucker nailed it.

Sony went full ruh-tard. I think i'm going to short their stock. Idiots.
When you short, you take it in the shorts.

The only plausible explanation is that Seth Rogan is Canadian and trying to reverse Canadian Bacon us.

Honestly, I used to be one of those people that said, "Oh man we can't torture terrorists for information, it compromises our ethics and makes them WIN!"

Now, I just don't give a fuck. Compromise our ethics? Please. These people want to behead us all. Do horrible things to every one of us. They would destroy us in a heartbeat if they had the power. If you want to pour some water on their heads I'm seriously not going to claim it's compromising our moral integrity. If you want to convince me to be anti-torture you'd be better off explaining how it doesn't actually work in getting information a lot of the time, which is a valid point.

I'm fairly certain anything leaked that was obtained through illegal means like hacking is inadmissible in court anyway. Sony could be found guilty by the court of public opinion for anything released, but that's about it.
In which country? But in any case its not over. Why Sony would think these guys will stop at getting the movie iced is beyond me..

While I agree re: the idgaf mentality, physical torture definitely doesn't work any better than psychological trickery.

Torture is an emotional catharsis and a way of meting out justice. It's more effective at netting fear, broken wills and false confessions than real info.

Torture em anyways...

Guantonamo bay was disaster. and ultimately proved the best way to stop terror attacks was the american way not senseless torturing that turned out to be a cash cow program for two guys whose qualification cetnered around a psychology degree.

The whole program was a farce and George bush should be ashamed of himself for setting it up.

Sony shows that Foreign corporations are susceptible to coercion by other foreign powers. Hopefully Hollywood makes an effort to take their moves elsewhere.

These techniques had been used by Korea before COmpanies storing peoples information electronically should have a high degree of accountibility when it comes to securing this information.

The bolded part is dead-on for me. You're trying to appeal to the wrong guy by telling me I'm bad for being all-for sodomizing terror suspects. IDGAF. Now, if it's tactically worthless, I'm listening. That's a good point by @The Oi. Maybe the answer is just to tear that ass up more. :chuckle:

If a few suspected terrorists have to be anally violated in an effort to keep me safe, I'm good with that. The other side of this "war" doesn't care about due process, violating someone, etc. I don't see why I've got to, in this scenario.

Haven't posted on here in awhile, I come on here in the middle of the night and I'm actually not surprised to read folks arguing for the use of torture against (terror) suspects.

Either many of you haven't read the reports regarding the torture, rape, and murder of those incarcerated by American forces or you just don't give a damn.

Personally, I think it's disgusting to want your government to go about torturing people knowing full well that a sizable portion of those people will have had nothing to do with the so-called terrorism you are supposedly trying to stop.

Bunch of catchers.

You all know that Gourimoko is responsible for the Sony hack right?

So what I've taken away from this thread is that Soda enjoys sodomy.

Also a quote from the article Jigo posted had me rolling. "We didn't cave, we persevered."

Oh, giving them exactly what they wanted and costing yourself millions isn't caving?

while i don't agree with the whole "persevering" thing, listening to them is probably most definitely the smart thing to do.
