The Trent Richardson Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Anyone know what number Trent will wear? #33 maybe?

He alluded at possibly 33 and said he didn't want to give that away just yet but I'd make it my guess.

It's driving me nuts the ESPN's and other publications acting like Minnesota pounded us in the ass on the trade. 4th, 5th and 7th really? Those are 3 massive question marks at best to secure the player you truly covet. Had we stayed at #4 and gotten beaten out by Tampa Bay and had to settle on Blackmon I could see them ripping us for not making the trade. We either get killed for being too passive and missing on RG3 or trading down and not assertively going after someone and we get ethered when we do. God damn I hope he fucking sets the rushing record his rookie season.

Exactly. No matter what we choose to do, we made a mistake. Of course, certain other teams, on their "preferred" list, would be making the right call by doing the same thing.

I don't get the hate at all either. We got one of the best playmakers (if not THE best) in the draft and didn't give up any picks where you can expect a starter to be drafted.

I've said it before, but if the Patriots, Packers, or Steelers make that deal, they're being praised right now for getting their guy.

Don't forget the Redskins. They are on that special list too.

I could already hear the spin if we were the ones that made the trade for RG3.

"He's going to need to bulk up if he's going to last in that division."

"His deep ball hangs a little too long."

"Cleveland has mortgaged their future on a guy who was a mid round selection going into the season."

"They could have kept their picks and tried their luck with Tannehill or Weeden."

The Redskins are just special. In a corky kind of way. Snyder has failed miserably at loading the team up with Free Agents on multiple occasions. Yet he sold the farm and went back at it again this year with RG3 and a bunch of overpaid, under productive veterans. To make matters worse, he made the terrible decision of selecting Cousins in the 4th round. Cousins shouldn't be able to beat out RG3 but what if he does. What if RG3 plays poorly to start the season. ESPN destroyed Washington for that move and they should have.

Exactly all it does is create unnecessary pressure for RG3 if he struggles. What if they go into Dallas 1-2 and DeMarcus Ware unloads on RG3 and Cousins comes in and they go 4-0 or something?

I liked Cousins, he's not the ultra elite talent like RG3 but he's a smart kid.

On the NFL site, they gave them a nice flowery nice pick note.

Pick Analysis: Bucky Brooks' take: Cousins gives Washington another developmental prospect behind RG3. He possesses the ideal mindset to function as a backup and could develop into a starter who brings significant trade value down the road.

A 4th, 5th and a 7th is too much to move up to get an elite talent...

But two first and a second isn't? Riiiiggghhhhttt

You must not be good at math. Both trades are for 3 picks and the Browns had to "settle" for a mere running back. The Redskins got a quarterback instead. Obvious win win for the Skins. You know the Browns never do anything right. Get with the program. You need to read their acclaimed book, "Be an ESPN Zombie, Five easy steps." :chuckles:

One thing about Trent is that his height and weight combination is unusual in the league. There have been other RBs who weigh 230 pounds. And there have been other RBs who are below 5'10". But finding RBs who are both is tough to do.

Nearly every RB close to his height weighs about 20 pounds less, and every RB at his weight is usually 6'3". Richardson is a small target that packs a whollup. He is going be to fun to watch.

May have been one of the worst picks in the draft. They have plenty of needs and no future high draft picks, so they waste a 4th rounder on a back up qb who might someday net you a 3rd round pick? It's an assumption that's incredibly risky. Ask Belichek how Ryan Mallett or Hoyer are working out in the trade department...and he could afford to draft those guys.

I agree 100% with your logic but I love the Mallett pick by NE last year. I think he was a 3rd rounder so the risk is low and Tom Brady believe it or not, is coming to the end of his career. NE is doing exactly what they should be doing, looking past Brady to see who they can develop into the next starter because Brady will be 35 when the season starts. If you ask some of the Weeden haters around here, at 35, he's gonna have to hang em up because he can't possibly play any longer.
