The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wish there was another game just like the Mass Effect trilogy. Best story mode I've ever played.

Mass Effect games were an experience.

Can't wait to see what they have in store for the new one.

I just got done replaying the entire Mass Effect trilogy on Insanity. Boy that shit is fun as fuck. One of my all-time favorite trilogies. You know you have a classic game on your hand when you can start playing as soon as you wake up and before you know it it's 5 AM and you still don't wanna stop playing. :chuckles:

I actually just started playing Mass Effect again last week after not playing since February (Got the Trilogy for Xmas). I've only beat the first one, just finished gaining the loyalty of all my crew members in ME2.

Yeah, I'm about to start the trilogy all over again lol. Thanks guys.

But really though, if anyone knows another game like the Mass Effect games let me know. A game that has good action but is largely influenced the the decisions you make.

Agree with Cassius, I'm going to have to replay the trilogy again. Hate how they only talked about the new one for the ps4/xbone, sounds like they going in the right direction. Won't know until they give more details about the story, instead I'm waiting for No Man's Sky and Destiny while trying to play Watchdogs.

I started playing Rocksmith a few days ago and switched to Rocksmith 2014. Holy shit it is awesome, it is seriously revolutionary.

Ive had a guitar since i was in 6th grade (grad school now) and couldnt ever practice for more than 20 minutes without getting frustrated and quitting. I can play Rocksmith 2014 until my fingers give out (havent gotten the callouses yet), i've played for 2-3 hours a day and it is just plain fun

I should add that guitar hero honestly helps a lot if you were previously a GH junkie. It really helps with rhythm and stretching your pinkey finger out

I bought Rocksmith and the audio from my TV speakers was delayed and it kept messing my playing up so I just gave up on the game. It is a great game though. Glad someone else still appreciates music rhythm games :chuckles:

Damnit Watch Dogs is legit. So detailed, great story, and immense world with ton to do. Amazing game, challenging but not impossible.

9/10

Until the three colored ending, where the game just shit its pants in a manner that was, quite frankly, just impressive.

Yeah, the ending left a lot to be desired, but considering how great the rest of the series was I try to just pretend bioware didn't massively fuck up at the very last second and enjoy the rest of the game. :chuckles:

Looney, have you ever played the KOTOR series? It's an older game and not nearly as in depth as ME, but I still enjoy playing through the 2 games once every year or so. Perhaps there is a big nostalgia factor for me since I played them when I was much younger, but KOTOR is right up there with ME in terms of my favorite RPG's.

I know a lot of people are huge fans of the Elder Scrolls series as well, though I never really got into them myself.

BioWare forgot the first rule of writing: everyone remembers a bad ending. The beginning and the end are the two most important parts of any story, as they're the things people are likely to walk away remembering the most. You can get away with some shitty parts in the middle if you swing for the fences at the end and connect. You can even get away with a lousy beginning if your ending is aced. But you just can't get away with a shitty ending, particularly in a story as long and epic as Mass Effect.

And really, that entire ending sequence was fucking horrible. You run into a beam and spend five minutes talking to a Deus Ex Machina who can somehow magically do three different things, and only three different things. No epic boss fight. No high stakes fight to save your friends. No giant battle sequence despite the fact that the entire last game seemed to be building up to a mammoth throwdown for Earth. Nope. You just spend five minutes talking to a digital kid (how he was able to get into your head to take that form remains unclear) who can wave one of three magic wands.

God...I get pissed off all over again just thinking about it. :chuckles:

Gotta say, the ending wasn't great for the reasons Jack Brickman laid out, but my biggest regret about how it ended is not that the ending was lackluster but that every time Mass Effect gets mentioned I have to hear people bitch about the ending and piss in my cornflakes.

Well, there are just some things you can't unsee. That ending was one of them. :chuckles:

I don't think the choices themselves were bad. And the extended endings helped a little bit.

It was like you said, no epic battle (boss battles are fucking terribad, such an awful concept for a game like ME but...a fight with tons of enemies and a couple big ones would be cool), the "deus ex machina" aspect which I hated, and a couple other small issues I had.

I didn't loathe it, but I didn't like it. Could have been done way better and frankly it surprised me that Bioware told such a great story with such fantastic moments I'll never forget, but then ended it like that.

Anyways, the series is still one of the best ever. Like I said, some moments in those games I will NEVER forget. And to be honest as much as we rag on 3's ending, a lot of those moments took place in 3.
