The worst team in the league

spot on, my friend.

if you looked at every cavs starter and ranked them against other players at their position around the league..the cavs starters would rank at the bottom at every position -

even Mo would probably be one of the lowest ranked point guards because there is a freakishly large number of great point guards in the NBA right now.

Parker is by far the worst starting SG in the league...no one can deny that.

Graham is probably the worst starting SF in the NBA

JJ is definitely at the bottom of starting PF's

Andy is definitely at the bottom of starting C's (especially since he's really a PF and he's not meant to be a starter).

so there you go...the lack of talent can't be denied.

The curse of Danny Ferry continues, I hate him !!

If Danny Ferry was never born, how many NBA Championships would the Cavs have won by now? I'm guessing 2-5..

You mean to tell me we have Mo Williams as our best player and we're the worst team in the NBA?

How can this be?

What you're currently watching is a harsh realization to those who still believe there was more to this team than the man who took his talents to south beach.

How did it happen? Just a week ago we were 7-9 and could point to 2 or 3 other games that we could have won had we been healthy. We were playing like a 2nd tier playoff team. Grit and determination were words used to describe us.

Now 8 nights and 5 games later (3 against 3 of the worst teams in the league), we're the worst team in the league. At least I suspect that is what this computer model will show after updating for tonight's game.

http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings/_/page/2

Looking at our schedule, we may not win another game before christmas.

vs Bulls
@ Houston
@ Thunder
@ Heat
@ Pacers
vs Knicks
vs Jazz
@ Hawks

Where is the team that beat Boston, or the team that swept a 3 game road trip with opponents on the same level as the last 3?

We don't run the offense, we don't play defense. Heading into tonight's game, we sank to 29th in the league offensively and 22nd in the league defensively. We have the worst point differential in the league, a full point worse than the 2nd worse team.

Yet in the pitiful east, we are just 1 game out of the 8th seed. What happened and can it be fixed?

Dude, they just aren't any good. There are no essays to be written or extensive analysis to be done. The Cavaliers are not a very good team. That's all there is to it...

I haven't watched a game since the Miami disaster, but I think it's pretty clear that these guys are broken. They were running off of emotion early in the season, but once the desire to disprove the doubters wore off and the reality of how dire the situation is when Lebron rode back into town and slaughtered everyone on national TV set in, these guys caved. These are beaten men. They've become accustomed to greatness and to a man I'm sure thought they were on a train headed to multiple titles and cemented legacies. Over night, all that went up in flames. This is the personification of from the penthouse to the outhouse and I'm not even sure if that cliche covers the gravity of this fall from grace.

Personally, I think everybody that played with Lebron needs to be moved. The memories of what was and what could of been is like a cancerous black cloud hanging over the head of the whole team. Whatever mental toughness and force of will these guys still had after the playoff collapses the last few years is gone. They can come out and say the right things, but we know better.

If you get dumped by the girl of your dreams, you don't leave pictures of you and her scattered around the house and put on home movies of when you guys went on vacation together to help pass the time. You don't hang around her friends or visit your old haunts so you can be constantly reminded of her. You burn all that shit, break off those friendships, avoid those places and start over. That's what the Cavs need to do. It's time to create a new identity and distance themselves from the previous era. That is not going to happen as long as 80% of the rotation is held over from the Lebron days.

Blow this thing up as soon as possible. This rebuild is going to take years. You don't rebuild on the fly in the NBA. The sooner the organization realizes this and commits to it, the better.

Things could not be going better IMO. Even in a crappy draft, the #1-#3 picks can net you a player to build with. This team needs talent and the draft is the only way to get it when you're Cleveland.

Not the only way, our 66 win team only had 4 players we drafted.

If i'm Lebron last season I would think to myself, are you kinding me. They bring in an old SG in Anthony Parker, a CBA globe trotter in J Moon, a 37 year old washed up center who can't get up and down the court in Shaq, they have no future center, no real future shooting guard and a bunch of under sized players at their position. If I'm Lebron, why the fuck am I staying. Over and over he asked for help, and over and over Ferry brought in players who are washed up. First let me say fuck Lebron but now that he is gone we can all clearly see we don't got jack shit here in Cleveland.

I can handle losing games but I don't want to see a team that has no heart and has pretty much stopped caring for the most part.
If you're going to lose you at least want to ease that with having a team that has hope and upside for the future. This team doesn't have that.

This isn't last season's team or a Cavs team for the last few seasons. Those comparisons should stop.

Hopefully the entire organization and especially the owner and head coach have awoken to just what we have and where we need to go. Look long term, look to the future, and rebuild. Cavs are going nowhere with this team which can't even offer fans any hope.

We planned for the short term because our franchise player wanted us to play for the now, not the future. I'm not terribly surprised with what we are left with now I just thought they would put more into it.

We tried LeBron's way and we didn't make it; now, we are left to rebuild. Hurray? :thumbdown

This team is supposed to run, instead they play a half court offense that focus on jumpers - which no one can hit. If they want to do that they don't need draft picks, make a phone call to the Euro leagues and bring a whole team over. Can we trade players to the Euro league? I'd trade this team whole team for 5 eastern block jump shooters and a Yugo.

Sorry for being ridiculous. 2 jump shooters, a high mileage Yugo

Dude, they just aren't any good. There are no essays to be written or extensive analysis to be done. The Cavaliers are not a very good team. That's all there is to it...

We're obviously not an elite team full of talent trying to compete. But the fact is we're better than how we've been playing... this team isn't the worst in the NBA. We've given up and aren't playing with any heart.

And I'm completely OK with that, because next year most these guys won't be here, and we'll have the lottery to look forward to.

One of the huge differences between last year and this is the defense, it is just atrocious. Part of this is losing Mike Brown, part of it is losing LeBron, part is losing West, part is losing 2 veteran centers. A huge part of it is rebounding. We lost one of the best rebounding SF's and replaced him with crap, but also lost 2 very good rebounding centers and replaced them with our best PF and a beanpole 5th big man in Hollins. On top of all that Hickson has managed to regress badly as a rebounder. We are getting killed on the boards. We are so soft in the paint. You can't run like Scott wants if you can't get stops and can't rebound when you do get stops. People want to say, well this is just the same Cavs team minus LeBron. No, this team is very different. No Mike Brown team was ever this weak down low. LeBron might've been able to drag this team to 50 wins, but it would still be extremely flawed in the paint.(Though if that guy had committed to us, we'd have better players)

Whoever posted that this team is like a chicken with its head cut off after J**** left is right. The team was built to play around him and now it is a team without a purpose. But more than that, and more than the loss of Shaq, West, etc., I think these guys got used to winning and doing so easily. Now it isn't easy. And even if you play hard, you're not going anywhere in the playoffs. Maybe if they tank the trades will come, and many of them wouldn't mind that. I'm not saying they're tanking on purpose, but there just isn't any motivation or inspiration, especially on the road. If this team had a winning mindset, I think it would be a .500 team. But it doesn't.

Whatever. A good thing is being accomplished: to lose and lose a lot. Need to stockpile assets.

No matter how many championships he wins, LeQuit will always be a twerp and a quitter. This team apparently is full of quitters too.

Find a team who has less talent. Just one. Mayb,e MAYBE detroit. After that, you'll be very hard pressed to find a team with less talent.

it's not about lack of effort...it's a complete lack of talent. even if these players tried their absolute best, they'd still barely pull off 35 wins. wish such a lacking roster, no amount of effort is going to make this team even mediocre.

i'll post this again if people are still unclear as to how truely bad our players rank compared to the rest of the league:

if you looked at every cavs starter and ranked them against other players at their position around the league..the cavs starters would rank near the bottom at every position -

PG - even Mo would probably be one of the lowest ranked point guards because there is a freakishly large number of great point guards in the NBA right now.

SG - Parker is by far the worst starting SG in the league...no one can deny that.

SF - Graham is probably the worst starting SF in the NBA (and so would Moon or Jawad if they were starting)

PF - JJ is definitely near the bottom of starting PF's

C - Andy is definitely near the bottom of starting C's (especially since he's really a PF and he's not meant to be a starter).

the lack of talent can't be denied.

so there you go...not one of our players even ranks in the middle of the pack at their position when compared to the rest of the league...increased effort can't overcome that bad of a roster.
