Do Not Sell My Personal Information
"We wanted to push the tempo," Matta said. "Their deal was they weren't shooting until there was less than five on the shot clock. I would rather somebody punch me in the face than do that."

:chuckles:

I'm probably one of the very few in here who remember when there was NO SHOT CLOCK at all. Teams like North Carolina would play the 4 corner offense and literally hold the ball for 2, 3, 5, or 10 minutes at a time for ONE position. The defense had to take risks in order to break up the position, or the offense got off a great shot as the defense simply fell asleep. It was awful, awful stuff.

The Princeton offense was born at that time as well I believe.... with the owner being, hm, erm, Princeton of course. They perfected the running out the clock. Some games would be like 22-15 and such. Just awful. Boring.

The game tonight brought back all those old memories.

I'm not quite old enough to remember the no shot clock days. I did hear about the legendary Phil Ford of North Carolina years ago. I've also seen some of the ESPN classic highlights. It truly did make the sport unwatchable. I guess what bothers me more and it is still in play today is the constant timeouts and fouls at the end of games. It just destroys the rhythm of things. Even today, there were 3 timeouts (2 by NU and 1 by OSU) taken before the final shot attempt with 3.5 secs left. Really? We all knew the plan was to run the ball up the court at chuck a half court shot. They really should limit the amount of timeouts teams get in a game. With all of the TV timeouts available, there is no need to have so many IMO.

Ugly, but for another road win in the Big 10 I'll take it. Get these crappy games out of our system now. Do you guys buy the theory that we should lose one before the tournament so we don't have this undefeated cloud over our heads and we can learn from the mistakes....I personally think it's BS but I have heard a couple reporters say something similar lately.

As I said before, I do think they need to lose.

1 team has entered the NCAA Tourney undefeated since it expanded to 64 teams. That was UNLV in 1991 & they lost in the Final Four.

Granted, anything can happen & there is a 1st time for everything, but considering Ohio State is having trouble showing up in some of their games, I think it'd be in their best interest if they lost a game before a tourney in which its 1 & done.

Actually Matta called 2 timeouts as well before that last play. He piggybacked his first timeout right after NW first timeout as he wanted more time to plan. My thought prior to that is why he didn't use a timeout for a long stretch when NW made the run and even went ahead. That's the reason he had a few timeouts left at the end of the game.

We better get our heads out of our asses, and quick.

Michigan hitting big threes when they need them.

Still shouldn't be this close.

This play by play guy is a douche, shut up about the officiating already, Michigan doesn't attack the rim.

OSU just too tough. Sully was unstoppable but gave up about 8 points at the line if you include his missed one and one opportunities. Well, two real tough away games coming up. I'd be shocked if we don't get our first lose. The need to play TWO tough halves instead of only only one is the way to win out.

Buford got us going....His game is so smooth

Going by the boxscore Craft had a game to forget, But he made some really big plays

Of course Sully with another domination

oh yea....i'm tired of them asking our we the best team in the nation....and the other guy will sit there and ponder on it, really....

Many talking experts (ask them if they are experts) out there especially on ESPN are predicting 3 loses in the next 5 games. I think we will lose a game, but THREE of them? I don't think so.

lol.

They are retarded.

I see us losing 1 game.
