Yeah, I read the Simmons piece. I think he is a better humorist than analyst, but he has certainly been grinding an axe with the Cavaliers for about 4 years.
I think he has some valid disappointment with how the Cavaliers looked for most of this season. I personally believed the Cavaliers looked pretty good when healthy, but after Varejao went down the team had a gigantic cloud of smoggy brown shitwater over it. Simmons needs to recognize the bump in how the team finally looks with the missing piece of the puzzle on board... but that may take a few more wins.
The Cavaliers won a lot of unearned praise from July to September. Now they will have to earn that praise back. I have no doubt they will.
