Farewell, Timofey Mozgov

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Goddamnit, I wish I could watch my kid packing my luggage and know he's got a good shot at being 7' tall someday.

@Maximus

Tristan is with LeBron's agency. I can think of no other reason why Moz did not play. The bigger problem becomes the off season. Are the Cavs really going to well overpay both TT and then, ultimately, Kevin Love, for the same position? TT already turned down a huge overpayment and Love will want a max deal. What about Moz in another year? He is more valuable right now then TT and Love. None of these issues arise if we held on to Wiggins' cheap rookie contract.
We'd still be out of cap space, but worse at basketball. As long as Gilbert is OK paying the luxury tax (spoiler alert: he is), contracts really matter very little.

PERHAPS we might be able to do a S&T this summer with Wiggins instead of Love, but we'd already would've had to not pick up Bennett's option.

Isn't opponent fg percentage at the rim lower with tt?

(Please read this with a heavy russian accent)
mayby opponent fg percentage at the rim lower with TT, but opponents Effective Field Goal Percentage much lower with Moz.

I cannot for the life of me understand why the fans are so jealously protective of billionaire Danny's money.

First of all: Billionaire.

Second, he made money hand over fist in the years that Bron left when payroll was low and income remained high.

Third, solely because of his Cavs affiliation, he got himself those licenses to those Casinos. More pure profit rolling into his billionaire hands.

Fourth, Bron coming back to Cle, a decision that Gilbert had nothing to do with, shot up the value of the Cavs franchise by something like $300 million overnight. Literally, in one night.

If that dude cares about the luxury tax for the entirety of the rest of Bron's remaining quality years, he's a greedy rat-bastard who should go fuck himself and then die a painful death.

But you know what? I don't think he is.

I think he realizes that whatever it costs him in the short term is worth it. It's worth it to win, winning for it's own sake is a good, you know.

And he's already made and in the future will continue to make plenty of profit to boot.

No one needs to worry about or even consider Danny's pocket book, not for one second.

PS: Now if you want to argue there are better ways for Danny to go crazy and spend deep into luxury tax penalties, that's fine. Maybe there are.

But it's not our job to care about wanting or helping him to save a red cent.

I think being open to spending over the tax line is probably one of the thinks Gilbert and LeBron discussed when he decided to go back. It's probably a gentleman's agreement on their part.

You guys do realize there are serious implications for goigoing to the cap apron, right? consequences that our owner pushed for in the last round of negotiations? Just because Dan got back his meal ticket doesnt mean the other owners are going to suddenly do him a favor and reverse course, least of which being the guy targeted by these very rules (Arison).

The team can only spend it's way to contending to an extent. While obviously a star laden starting lineup is going to be expensive the bench has to have at least some bargains and guys on thier rookie deals to avoid the apron n be a regular title contender. That is going to get very difficult once the team has to hand out deals for Thompson, Shump, Mozgov. They are fine for this year and next but after that Griffin is going to have to get creative bc I just don't see the owners giving back the concessions they fought for just a few years ago.

Mozgov has 22 blocks as a Cav, already 5th on the team. LeBron has 29, 2nd on the team..

Someone in the TT thread made a good point that what TT brings in the 4th that very few players do to the same extent is his motor. With Tristan coming off the bench in the 4th and crashing the board you have the opposing expend a lot of energy just trying to keep him off the offensive boards instead of perhaps guarding their man well as they should. An energy big like Tristan thrives on the boards against a fatigued front court in crunch time.

Blatt actualy adressed this issue in the last presser and said pretty much those things.

Again, huge props to Blatt for understanding that and using TT so as to maximize his impact. Interesting that Mozgov's arrival, rather than making TT superfluous, actually makes him a more impactful contributor.

Yes, and I think it's actually very smart. I didn't even think about that.
Putting TT with his energy and beasting on the boards in there, when usually the tired starters are on, is a great way to keep them working hard without rest.
