So you guys honestly want to watch that type of basketball for the next five years? Throw away five years of Kyrie's career? I'll pass on that one. My bet is Dan Gilbert will too.
If this year we're in the 5-8 pick range heading into the lottery, and the following year we're in the 12-14 range heading in the lottery, I wouldn't consider that a failure as long as the young guys looked to be progressing. At that point it would be time to re-sign KI and TT and unless we make a big move before then we should have enough to sign a marquee free agent heading into that offseason. At that point we would have KI, TT, TZ, DW, multiple 2013 first rounders, possibly multiple 2014 first rounders, and hopefully an all-star level FA. That's kind of the best plan we have right now unless Grant can pull of a deal to get someone here. So while I don't want to have a legitimate chance to get the #1 pick in 2014, being in the lottery wouldn't mean our team wasn't going places.
