Trade Deadline Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh, I'd rather have Puig too simply because of the age difference. Puig is good, but he's having a below average, injury plagued season following a very good rookie year.

He's got the potential for sure.
You realize this is Puig's 3rd season, right? He's shown enough for me to consider this season to be an outlier. He has a few All-Star games ahead of him yet.

Honestly thought this was his second year in the league. Past seasons are starting to run together for me.

I'd give up something for Puig now but not Yoenis, Puig can be apart of a good future if his head is on straight. Frazier/Ramirez for him to be exact.

Brantley/Puig/Zimmer could be pretty good out there come next June. Naquin is the odd man out of the OF.

What the hell, Puig isn't happening anyways. LA would try to fleece us.

Not that this site is very reputable whatsoever but what the hell, I'll share it for conversation sake at least...

BREAKING: Indians Doing “Everything And Anything” To Land Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig

The Indians are doing whatever they can to land Star OF Yasiel Puig – per source

A source has told Lake Erie Sports that the Indians are doing “anything and everything” to land Dodgers star OF Yasiel Puig. Puig would fill the long-time need of a power hitting right handed batter. In his short career, he’s already shown the kind of threat he can be at the plate with a career .296 batting average and 42 home runs in 307 games.

The Indians would likely have to give up young starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco, who signed a 4 year, $48 million extension on April 7th, along with a prospect. He’s been having a great season so far, and is coming off a fantastic start against the Oakland Athletics, where he threw a complete game 2 hitter, while striking out 7 batters.

One of the main reasons for the Indians trying to acquire Puig’s services? Team control. He has a very team friendly deal that lasts until the 2020 season. He also would fill the void of a much needed right fielder.

Ok children, back on topic...

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Cubs are among the teams in "ongoing dialogue" with the Indians regarding Carlos Carrasco.

The Cubs seem determined to land a cost-controlled young starter, as they've also been talking to the Padres about Tyson Ross. It would take a hefty price to get Carrasco, as he's on a team-friendly four-year, $22 million contract and has flashed ace ability. ESPN's Jerry Crasnick hears that the Red Sox are one of the clubs also in on Carrasco.

I'm assuming Schwarber is a non-starter (although he's overwhelmingly the guy I'd want).

Would a package centered around Javier Baez catch anyone's eye?

Baez almost certainly would be included. He seems to be the odd man out of the Cubs Super Prospects. The Indians should add if it were possible to get Schwarber.

Baez is a SS/2B. Played his whole life there I assume.

Are we packaging Kipnis or Lindor with Cookie? Come on guys, lets trade for needs instead of middle infielders, when we have 2 very good ones already.

Baez has been a 3rd baseman too.

He played like 5 games there.

He also batted .170 in the majors in 52 games. If he's packaged with the hard hitting Ohio native in Scwarber then yeah, good trade.

Zero change I do any deal without Schwarber. He's the only piece enticing enough to deal a team-controlled starter.

Baez is a non-starter. Zero plate discipline, no applicable position on this team.

Interesting note on Schwarber, he may be listed as an backstop, but that's not where he'll make his money at the show. Scouts discredit his style, but he can be a LF/DH. His bat is the money, and he also has a strong arm.

A top 10 prospect in return is worth trading Carassco.

Only negative, he's a LH stick.

I would do Schwarber for Carrasco in a heartbeat and would be willing to throw in a little more if that's what it took. This is coming from someone who really likes Carrasco.

Schwarber's defensive ability (or lack thereof) means a whole lot less in the AL. He's the kind of guy the Indians could plug into the cleanup spot for the next 7 years.

Can someone post a breakdown on Schwarber? I don't follow minor league baseball except for the AAA team that plays in Cleveland.
