Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
(Oh and PS, just remember the last Canadian that could ball was Michael J Fox as Teen Wolf, and that Mother Effer had some hops.)
You forget Mike Smrek, Bill Wellington, oh and this dude called Nash.

After watching that one sports science segment, i heard he tied a record held by Lamarcus Aldridge in terms of blocked shots in a game. So perhaps he's got the same kind of upside as Lamarcus Aldridge? I'd sure as the stuff take that. One thing i DO know, someone who hits the offensive boards is a good piece to have on your team no matter what but especially so with some of the brick shooters we have on our club. (Boobie excluded until he hurts whatever lower part of the body which helps him shoot)

I'm seeing Horace Grant for some reason with Tristan. TnT doesn't have the jumper yet that Grant developed but he has that same wiry, athletic build and likes to play facing the basket like a young Grant did for the Bulls. Thompson looks like he's the same defensive mindset as Grant as well. TnT looks more athletic but as already mentioned doesn't have the midrange jumpshot yet.

I could care less about him aquiring a mid range jump shot to be honest. Pretty hard to get the rebound if your that far from the glass and boxed out.
As long as he secures the paint and attacks the glass he can score 2 points a game and I will be happy.

Edit--Free throws should be where he looks to improve before other teams start hacking him on purpose. I almost forgot about his horrible free throw %.

First I want to say I liked the pick. It was a weak draft and we went with a glue type player after taking one of only 2 potential super stars in the draft. But stop with Dwight, or Ewing or Russell comparison. He has a chance to be a good defending solid NBA player. We dont have many of those right now, so it was good pick up in my opinion, but some of you are crazy with your comparisons.

So you are thinking Tristan will be more along the lines of Olajuwon or Larry Nance???

Im seeing a less polished Kenyon Martin without the thug attitude. I don't think he is going to put up the numbers like K-Mart did on the Nets, but I think he has the potential to be that kind of a player.

Am I the only one who doesn't like saying who a guy will be like?

I would rather consider what he will be like for the Cavaliers. What will his legacy if any be? Or at least if we are going in the right direction- does he fit into a role that we needed now over something else we could have had?

I would think the answer is "Yes" as sure maybe we'll get some top 10's of Kyrie to Tristan- but I imagine because he is raw, and because I hope we have people that recognize that a guy like him needs to maintain focus, and is a project, that he wont be the next _____ until down the road if at best, and at least can help us into another high pick. And hopefully pan out when the pieces come together. No?

If we are going to compare at least perhaps this would help: (Scouting report) (my bold as what stands out to me):

Height w/o Shoes: 6' 7.5"
Height w/shoes: 6' 8.75"
Weight: 227
Wingspan: 7' 1.25"
Standing Reach: 9'.05"
Body Fat: 6.2%
No Step Vert: 30"

Max Vert: 35"
Bench Press: 9
Lane Agility 3/4
Court Sprint: 3.26
Class Rank: N/A

I like to picture Tristan in a Tuxedo T-shirt because it says, like, 'I wanna be formal, but I'm here to party too.'

I say we watch exactly how he plays his offense before making any assumptions. His defense has a better chance because you can always give a better effort defensively. He may become a smaller version of Varejao for all we know. I need some proof of the first game in the preseason. Then we'll talk.

I don't see the huge upside that some of you do with him.

You do realize that Tristan THompson comes equipped with his own RCF swarming defense?
These guys are like the '96 Bulls when his greatness is questioned.

Quick, while they are not looking, run into the church with me... we'll be safe there

So because Thompson tied the "blocks in a tournament game" record by LaMarcus Aldridge, you think he has Aldridge's upside, aka a great midrange game and offensive prowess in the post...
