Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He found a lineup that got the team back into the game and eventually got the win. Instead of his robotic substitutions that people complain so much about, he went with what happened to be working best tonight. That, and early foul trouble for Tristan.

I was thinking the same thing during the game. Even though Clark made some really bone-headed mistakes, he was hitting shots and we were on a bit of a run so I think Brown let it ride. I thought it was a smart move to stick with what was working, and he brought Thompson back in at a good point and he made some critical defensive plays and rebounds for us down the stretch. Can't complain at all about Brown's adaptation on this one. It's something that should be applauded, especially with the win. More of that, please!

Yeah, I questioned TT being on the bench too, but Clarke was scoring and we were behind. I thought Tristan could be subbed for Andy, but I'll defer to coach on that one. Bottom line is they got back into the game, tied it up, and found a way to win. That is how a young team like this is going to grow. We just have to hope they can learn from this...it is gonna be a bumpy ride.

Maybe we could get Tristan to work on Bennett's jumpshot with him.

He stuck with it 2-3 minutes too long in the 4th, the Wizards size was giving the 3 guard lineup with Clark/Varejao problems on the boards. I'm not sure what is going on with Andy, but he isn't the rebounder he had been in previous years. Tristan is really important for his rebounding. I still prefer Clark at SF too, he just needs to take 3s when he's open, like he did last night.

According to synergy, Tristan averages 1.18 PPP in post up situations... that places him second in the entire league. I have no idea why they are not feeding him the ball more, there are stretches where he's completely ignored. His defensive numbers are also very good, allowing .74 PPP. Kid's a stud, and a real offensive weapon if we would go to him more often and in areas where he can be effective.

that's a great stat. right now he's scoring primarily because he has a great first step just think about how good he could become once his jump shot becomes reliable (it will make it even easier for him to take players off the dribble)...

Yeap. He is also a better pick and roll/pop option than Varejao, but almost limited calls for a pick and roll play for him.

I don't know about that. Tristan is really lacking in the pick and roll/pop game IMO. His footwork is messy and he's not nearly as good as Varejao in this aspect of the game.

He has the tools to be a better option, but he needs some polish.

Well, I think they credit him a post up for that running hop-step hook-shot he does some times when he's breaking his man down off the dribble and the only way that works is on a clear out and that can't happen more than a few times a game.

No problems with TT's usage. He's a good 4th option that can impact the game away from the ball. Very valuable.

Seems really hard to tell. I have hardly seen the guards get it to any big on the roll. Should be a go-to move with our mobile bigs and with how hard it was to defend with Kyrie and Andy last year.

I can't stand it when AC is talking about not having a post presence when Bynum is not on the floor. Tristan is there and he is effective. Other bigs can't stop him, and they go away from that option. Especially in 2nd halves.

There are some things in Tristan's game that feel overly mechanical rather than natural. I'm excited to see if part of the growth process this year is the jumper and some of the footwork looking more natural. If that happens, well you're looking at a pretty special player.

Yeah, Tristan isn't ready for the pick n pop. He needs time to set and wouldn't get that on the move at this point. For now he seems to be making good decisions with his jumper. When guys just leave him, he sets and takes it. Hope he keeps it up.

4th option on a good team. Should probably be the 2nd option on this team.

I am starting to think AVs regression has to do With Tristan being the better player. It seems Tristan has gained and AV lost a step. The messed up thing Is The rule It usually takes 4 years for a big to develop. So after this season he should be hitting strides and he Is on pace for that break out year. Then we got Bennett who Is another 4 year project IMO. Tristan Is learning and In my eyes with Mike Browns defense seems to be the only one who has played his same game so far with ups and downs. The kid Is a hard worker and a student of the game. I admire Tristan for that as you can tell he works hard to be better no matter what. Hopefully Kyrie and Dion can get over there little Egos and learn something from this kid and that Is respect.
