Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tristan quietly had a good game tonight with a relatively efficient 17 points and no turnovers. Haters gonna hate because his jump shot isn't as far along as we hoped, but he's shooting 48% from the field this month compared to 40% in November, and I remain hopeful that he'll keep improving as the year goes on just like he did last year.

If Bynum doesn't work out maybe Tristan could bulk up a bit and play center. He would need to become a much better passer though and keep working on his post moves non stop.

All he needs is a jheri curl and he is Michael Cage reincarnated.

Slap the number 44 on his ass and I wouldnt know the difference.

Take your time Chris Grant. Play Tristan more and spoon feed him more. Trade Bynum to Brooklyn or New York and lets make a go at a real game changer to put next to Kyrie.

With the cavs in Thompson's court I think that's what is going to happen. You'll see Bynum as trade bait, which is what we talked about this summer.

Varejao moves back to starting center. Thompson moves to back up center. And the cavs trade for a small forward/power forward that can actually play with Bynum as the bait.

Looking at our efficiency numbers Gee, Jack and Bynum are the biggest culprits. They play the least amount of minutes, yet hurt the team the most. Giant RED flag in statistics.

All three guys have value around the league. Most other teams could use a defensive wing, another ball handler, and a giant post presence. Just not here.

With the emergence of Delly, Gee and Jack have both been replaced. There's no reason the guy should be playing 20 minutes a night. He was a steal and fits seemlessly with BOTH Waiters and Irving. He should be playing 40 MINUTES A NIGHT! He also fits well with Miles who's managed to be effective even though he's hit a shooting slump.

When the cavs sure up the stretch 4/3 position and cut the fat this is a play off team. Until then we're still one player away.

Bynum needs to be gone so that Zeller can play most minutes with Tristan, and Andy can play most of his minutes with Bennett. It would help our floor spacing at ton.

Zeller was a big problem last season. I don't think going back to him is the answer. Cavs need to move forward.

FWIW, we kind of threw Zeller into the fire unfairly last year. He actually performed decently when you take into account the circumstances. He wasn't a world-beater, yet we forced into a role where he had to play 30+ minutes per game against centers who were way bigger than him. He's still soft as shit but I feel like he gets too much flak around here.

Watch zeller from last year. you see a very tense look. you see constant head movement with each step and you see a guy a step behind the game. Fast forward to this seasona nd Zeller looks comfortabl. he seems to be playing naturally and when he is looking around its to see what the opposing team is up to and not what he should be doing or if he is in the right spot.

Zellers floor experience was good for him . it drilled home exactly what he needed to do to become an NBA player and it appears that he has done those thing. I dont get nervous when zeller comes on the court.. not like some of the other guys trotting out there. and im not even talking about the bench )

Zeller's weakness was he couldn't handle the physicality of the center position. This was compounded by Zeller's inability to defend the perimeter. The size and strength of the nba increases compared to college. This left Zeller with out a position in the nba.

The nba shooting ability at power forward has negated the effectiveness of guys like thompson and varejao who lack the perimeter defensive skills to defend the three point line.

Varejao fell to Rashard Lewis the same way the sword fell to the gun.

Grant has collected 90's big men that are ineffective in the modern nba.

This is the biggest reason the cavaliers are failing to reach their potential. Can't bring a knife to a gun fight any more than you can bring the cavs front line to a shoot out.

I would consider it highway robbery if we could trade Gee for the 60th pick in the draft.

And I would like to add, calling Alonzo a "defensive" wing is being extremely generous

This. Big men these days are athletic as hell or has a respectable perimeter game. Our bigs have none of that.

Tristan Thompson is a center.

A 6'9 center. If he were a few inches taller or a little longer/played longer he would be a REALLY good center prospect

Now if you want to say that his poor handles cause him not to get the most out of his athleticism then you might be on to something.
