Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
TT simply vanishes in too many games to be considered as a starter on a playoff version of the Cavs.

Circumstances with his development and the personnel around him could change that current reality. That requires a dominant defensive center and a small forward who gets 20+ per game.

Not gonna happen. This team couldn't build around Lebron or Kyrie so why on earth would they acquire players to accommodate Tristan?

I'm not saying the personnel moves are likely, just what I think it will take to have TT on the court as a starter for a real playoff version of the Cavs.

I get that you aren't saying we should, but there is not a chance in hell I want to acquire pieces to accommodate Tristan. Trade him for a draft pick this year. A top 20 pick.

I'd trade him for JJ Hickson.

Yeap. At least JJ can give you a thunderous dunk once in a while. TT's lack of athleticism is frustrating for a dude who really does not have any offensive skills.

I'm sure glad we're judging our power forwards by how many thunderous dunks they throw down a game. Who cares about their rebounding or defense, did you see that slam they threw down?

If we had a dominant center, then the rebounding will be taken care of automatically.

Who is this dominant center that's walking in the doors? Andy is another great rebounder, but no one is calling him a dominant center. Are we trading for Dwight Howard or Marc Gasol soon?

Stoudemire had an amazing first half, there's no doubt Tristan got badly outplayed. But TT came out looking much better the 3rd quarter, blocking Amare's first shot attempt of the second half and limiting him to 4 points the rest of the game. With Andy on a minutes restriction our options at PF wouldn't have done much better defending Amare that first half. Did you see TZ get absolutely roasted by Amare the one time they were matched up on the block? And I don't see the 6'7'' Anthony Bennett as a viable option against 6'10'' Amare Stoudemire, not with how he looked last night.

C'mon Cosmo, you are ok with a guy that got undressed by Amare Stoudamire and his glass knees for 2 full quarters?

We all need to set our standards a little higher. Thompson wouldn't be more than a 4th or 5th big on a contender.

Package him and be done.

TT seems to come out looking better in the 3rd quarter alot of the times. Bodes well in his future development(despite what the chicken little's say).

Tristan is really starting to bother me and he is holding up our offense. The absolute two worst things TT does:

1) A guard penetrates and kicks it out to TT for a wide open 10-15 foot jumper and he doesn't shoot it, then drives into a crowded paint and gets blocked or misses the shot.
2) TT catches the ball wide open under the rim and manages to take long enough to gather and go up that he gets blocked. (Ex: Jack threw a pass to TT, he was WIDE open, then he gathers, goes up for the dunk slow as can be and gets blocked.

It's things like that, that slow down the offense and stop us from getting momentum and extending leads. Those are easy shots and Tristan usually just cannot convert them. He would be fine in a reserve role, maybe 20 minutes a game, but not playing big minutes like he is right now.

Amare was hitting some tough shots last night, I don't understand how that caps TT as a 4th or 5th big on a contender. You need to adjust your standards, TT is at worst the 2nd or 3rd best big on most contenders right now.

San Antonio- 2nd best behind Tim Duncan
Houston- 3rd best behind Dwight Howard, Omer Asik
Los Angeles- 3rd best behind Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan
Golden State- 3rd best behind David Lee, Andrew Bogut
Oklahoma City- 2nd best behind Serge Ibaka
Portland- 2nd best behind LaMarcus Aldridge
Miami- 2nd best behind Chris Bosh
Indianapolis- 3rd best behind Roy Hibbert, David West

You don't need 20 point scorers at every position to win in the NBA. You need players that can impact games without the ball in their hands. He's still only 22 years old, he's not done improving as a player. He had a bad first half of basketball last night, he then responded by outproducing Amare for the rest of the game.

Everyone one of those bigs are either very good or dominant defensively or offensively on contenders. How can we take the next step with a STARTING PF who is neither? You don't see title contenders jockeying for hustle front line players to fill up a starting spot.
