Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Guys look at it this way. We are probably in a win win situation now. They offered 12.5 per Max. That probably was a nod to Rich Paul. Looking at those other contracts, it seems like TT wants a starting Center/star pf money. He is neither of those things at this point, and I don't believe anyone will pay him that. As other have mentioned Greg Monroe didn't get that kind of payday last year either.

If somehow as Max says, Tristan does extend his range with a reliable Jump shot, or starts to block a ton of shots, then he will be worth whatever we match next summer and he will be easily tradable. It just seems unlikely that someone is going to pay him starter money next summer. He would have to make major strides playing C. He will probably end up having to take less than we offered just now. Griff played it right.

It is completely irrelevant to us as fans what he ends up getting. We already can't sign anybody other than exceptions. What the real issue is would be whether his production can be replaced by an attainable piece if he leaves. If there is a guy who can give you the exact same production for $6 million per year, but you can't get him because you're in the tax anyway, it's irrelevant that you can get the same production for half the price (because you can't in that scenario). Discussing his value in terms of dollars is for a team in a different situation. Overpaying him doesn't hamper us because the team is already built. We're already going to be in the tax with or without him.

When I think about it 10m is too high aswell lol :p
On top of my head right now,
Gortat is 12m a year, Nene is 13m a year, Jordan Hill is 9m a year.
Jordan hill will be a FA next year and I think he is better than TT

Hill signed a two-year deal this summer, he's not going to be a FA next year.

$9-10 million for a limited power forward that can give you heavy minutes at center market is close to market value, which is why I'm puzzled Tristan turned down $12.5 million a year. I love me some TT (and have argued in the past he should get $8-10 million a year), but even with the impending jump in the salary cap $12.5 million is more than generous.

Dan Fegan used his connection to a franchise player to screw the Wizards and Rockets in back-to-back summers, I really hope Rich Paul isn't similarly trying to extort the Cavs.

Cool,
12.5m is too much either
Why do we even need to be stressed about it, so many good FA in next year..
give me some DeAndre Jordan. Monroe, Mozgov..

Oh ok, I was sure about Jordan Hill, my bad then.
Can you explain the last paragraph regarding Dan Fegan?
I'm unaware and I'm seeking help :p

He got Martell Webster a 4-year, $22 million contract from the Wizards (an overpay considering his injury concerns) because he also represents John Wall.

For the Rockets, it's assumed that a handshake deal was made that for bringing Dwight Howard to Houston the Rockets would waive the final year of Chandler Parson's rookie contact. He entered restricted free agency a year early, and as a result ended up flipping to the rival Mavericks.

Jordan is getting 15 mil minimum bc he is on his 7th season. I wouldn't be surprised if Lac gave him the 18 mil max bc the new cba is kicking in.

Mozgov is going to command 12 plus as it is. Then factor in him using the CBA as leverage. F that. He has shown more bad than good over his career. He's playing this and last season well bc he is due a new contract. He reeks of pack it in after a big day. Not to mention TT is 5 years younger.

If TT gets 12 under this CBA, he will be making a small percentage of the cap when we get a new TV deal. No one bitches about Andy getting 10 mil a year, TT has shown improvement and durability at a much younger age.

Should have quoted me :O
I was just looking at Mozgovs contract numbers and it looks like he's getting like 4.5m~ a year? 12m for mozgov? Meh, No thank you Mozgov.
As for Jordan where do you get these numbers?
Jordan is getting 11M~ atm

Andy is a mascott.

Jordan is a free agent this offseason. Combine his improving body of work with the upcoming tv deal and cba. That's how I got to those dollar amounts. Mozgov is 2 years away, and it would be hard to pry him away with the value of his current deal.

I think Monroe is our best choice..

Arison, how can we get any of those guys? No cap room.

We will just match an offer for TT that will likely be less than what we just offered and try to do something with Haywoods contract.

You are correct in the fact the free agent class is good next year which should help depress demand for Tristan.

Andy is a mascot? Okay.

Like someone else said, how will we be able to get those guys?

Only way we do is if sign and trade Thompson.

We have no cap room.

Sorry guys, my words are too powerful it seems, take me lightly at all times.
As I see it, Monroe reminds me of Cousins, he has nice moves down low and could be a trouble down low which results in free open shots to permieter players.
Nevermind, guys I need some help, I'd like to stream matches every night through BallStreams, I need help setting it up :/

Monroe does nothing for the cavs defense and LeBron and love are better post players
