Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Adjusted for inflation that $9 million in 1996 would be $13.6 million today, a deal that TT has reportedly already turned down.

Yeah, but the league is also making more money to spread amongst the players since then. Basketball has been more globalized since then.

If you are going to complain about any of the contracts the Cavs have offered, it needs to be andy. The guy hasn't been healthy since LeBron left.

Windhorst said he was not actually offered that much. I personally don't think he was offered more than AV.
Finally! Someone agrees. I don't buy the reported offer bc he was nowhere near that value as a backup big.

We have a better version of this guy on our team. The only problem is, he's injury prone.

Sorry andy fucking sucked this year.

And he never plays.

And we owe him like 38 mil and three years or something absurd.

If there was ever a time to give him a big contract it was def afyer he consistently got injured and his playfell off

We trusting Windhorst reports again?

Either way, there was a report just a few days ago about Rich Paul making it known he expected a max or near max offer. Doesn't really matter at this point what we offered him, only what he's willing to accept.

Then just let him go get the best offer from another team and match ala Varejao to the Bobcats when he was an RFA. They shouldn't be competing against themselves.

You're missing the grand picture here Dave.

There's a reason LeBron heaped praise onto Varejao the moment he came back home.

LeBron is going to take care of all his boys. Say the word. If LeBron mentions the ball boys name in a favorable tone, they'll elevate him to upper level management.

LeBron will take care of all his pals on Gilbert's dime. It's why Damon Jones has a paid position, to be a friend of LeBron.

If he gets a penny over 7 Mil, Griffin will be fired.
you dont pay a guy like Thompson big money, average defense, one of the worst offensive post players in the whole league, and average defensive rebounding. the only thing he adds is offensive boards.

TT was the only post player in the league, 24 or under, who averaged 10 and 10 for the post-season.

Additionally, he shot 56% from the field and averaged 4.4 offensive rebounds per game (#2 behind only Tyson Chandler).

And for someone who is such a terrible defensive rebounder, his 6.4 defensive rebounds per game ranked better than Love, Zach Randolph, Andrew Bogut, Al Horford, Marcin Gortat, Tyson Chandler and Mozgov this post-season. So, there's that.

Young guys get paid......young big guys get overpaid. It's just the way of the NBA. Trying to find a replacement player anywhere close to TT isn't even an option. And if in 2 years we decide we want to move him, his contract is going to look pretty good with the new cap. He'll be a 26 year old double double guy on a deal that only takes up 15% of the cap. At current cap levels, that's equivalent to him signing a deal for 10 million a year. Even at 4 years 56-60 million, I'd argue he'll be under market value (on a percentage basis) once the cap increases.

I don’t think Andy is better than Tristan overall anymore. He’s too old.

The only thing that Andy is better at than Tristan at this point is the pick and roll game, and defending centers with length.

With his brain alone he'd still be a better help defender if he could actually stay on the court.

Andy rebound, pass, and score better than TT.

And maybe the most underrated part of TT's game is his durability.

It's hard to quantify having a young, improving player that ALSO doesn't miss games.

To me, that's something a lot of people overlook. It is incredibly important on a roster with guys who have injury histories.

Andy is a productive player when he's on the court, the problem is he's missed 238 of the 410 games the past 5 season (58%).

If a guy only gets on the court 40% of the time, I'm not sure what kind of value he truly has to a team trying to win a title.

Any chance this guy develops a jumper

Or ability to set solid screens

Illegal screens like kg
