Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Unlikely. I'd rather spend the effort on FTs and not getting blocked on dunks.

Definitely showed improvement there already this season but certainly room to grow.

His FT% did dip (down to 64.1%) but his finishing metrics improved dramatically year over year.

2014:

At the rim: 58%
Dunks: 87.7%

2015:

At the rim: 64.5%
Dunks: 91%

Both his numbers in 2015 were career highs.

I'd really really like Brandan Wright, just look at his advanced stats and that's before he even had a chance to play with Lebron and with that much spacing, pnr alley oop dunks has to be easy.
he is a great rim protector, shot blocker, his win shares are insane.

his problem is his post defense but who is playing in the post anyways nowadays?
limited to mostly left hooks and push shots.

the only thing TT is better than him is offensive rebounding, guarding the perimeter, intangibles, Lebron , Rich Paul.
I wish the Cavs had the full MLE since his contract is 5m and he is a FA this summer, I think he would be an amazing fit.

Would Rich Paul be opposed to us trading Thompson as long as he gets his money ?

Tristan isn't being traded....sorry buddy, know you want him gone, but it ain't happening.

No, but seriously. I don't care about him being overpaid - it's not my money. I just don't want him playing 35 minutes a game as the starting 4 in the playoffs - hopefully that is remedied with a healthy Love/Andy.

And maybe the most underrated part of TT's game is his durability.

It's hard to quantify having a young, improving player that ALSO doesn't miss games.

To me, that's something a lot of people overlook. It is incredibly important on a roster with guys who have injury histories.

Andy is a productive player when he's on the court, the problem is he's missed 238 of the 410 games the past 5 season (58%).

If a guy only gets on the court 40% of the time, I'm not sure what kind of value he truly has to a team trying to win a title.
Yep.

Tristan even has that weird quality that you see in the NBA every now and then where it seems like the more games he plays, the more minutes he piles up, the better he gets.

This was especially apparent in the first three rounds of the playoffs. He straight-up wears opponents out and slowly grinds them down.

In terms of being able to get on the floor at seemingly 100-percent night-in and night-out, he's one of the true iron men of the league. For some reason, in today's age of advanced metrics and analytics, a guy who is that dependable tends to get underrated.

That I do. I would love to turn his eventually cap number into some solid wing depth that can actually see the court.

Him or Varajao; but am assuming TT would fetch a better return.

Yeah, wasn't saying that to start a conversation...

the one thing teams have to remember when offering Tristan Thompson the max is that your not getting Lebron James too. I think teams have to take a breathe and realize that at some point.

Sorry andy fucking sucked this year.

And he never plays.

And we owe him like 38 mil and three years or something absurd.

He's guaranteed two years and about 20 million. Third year he basically turns into something similar to Brendan Haywood this year.

For all of you guys discussing trading Tristan...it isn't possible.

We'll be above the apron, which kicks in at $4 million above the luxury tax level, meaning we can't engage in sign-and-trades.

Edit: Never mind, apparently this rule only concerns ACQUIRING signed-and-traded players.

It's a bad contract. It was when they signed it, now that money is tied up in a guy who won't see the court when he has his next season ending injury.
That's assuming at his age he even fully recovers from the Achilles, which is a big if.

That is NOT true. The tax issue issue only concerns attempts to trade FOR the player. Like if we were to entertain the possibility of trading for Lamarcus Aldridge. It does not in any way inhibit our ability to trade away a player such as Mr Thompson.
