Re: 2012-2013 NBA Trade Deadline Thread

Am I the only one that thinks trading your young defensive anchor and young, talented backup PG for a 36 year old scheduled to make about $12 mil a year until 2015 is retarded?

For us...for sure! But If Paul leaves, this gives them a REAL shot at winning a title this year. And if it went down I would put my money on the Clips this year. Scrapping your team for one title is not that bad. I think givin the chance, Cavs fans would do it.

And did you see Jordan clank that free throw the other night?! My twelve year old shoots better than him!

Clippers have a once in 50 year opportunity. They can win the championship and be the premier team in LA. If trading a player makes a Gm think they can win it all this year, I think you have to make the trade. I guess it's a "the future is now" scenario.

Re: 2012-2013 Trade Deadline Thread

Would you still pay max for Dwight as of today? I'm not so sure I would.

Unfortunately 16/12 is the best the NBA has to offer from the C position. As Stark said there is not a center in the NBA that deserves any where near the max, but the market for good centers has never been higher given the lack of talent. In an injury riddled Kobe ball year Dwight is still having a "good" year by NBA center standards. I still fully believe if you can lock him up then you do it. Any signing has obvious risks, but at least with Dwight if our team (or any team) makes the max offer they know what they are in for. You are getting a diva, and a possibly injury prone one at that. I'd still like to see him get a chance to fullly recover from his injury. He wasn't even supposed to play until December or January.

Why is there not more talk about D12 possibly signing with the Cavs? Not that id prefer to sign him...just curious

Because Dwight would rather retire than play for a small market team like Cleveland.

Dwight fits better in a small market than a large market. Sure the media probably wants him in a large market but he's just not built for the media in a large market. Put him in a place like Cle, SA, Utah, Portland where there's a smaller market and they have die hard fans then he'll be fine.

Re: 2012-2013 Trade Deadline Thread

I think Dwight is better around acerbic personalities like Kobe.

Hopefully the My Little Ponies will make a move for him so he can have fun again.

Dwight just wanted to play with his homies in BK. Has nothing to do with it being a big market imo. Now he is stuck choosing between LOL, ATL, DAL, and CLE. Of those teams only one offers an all star PG, and long term contention. Not saying he will come here, but if Paul decides the Clippers are good enough for him then we become a real shot. If Paul wants out too, then they are ATL bound (Dwight's home...). I fully expect those two to join swords in Atlanta though tbh. Dwight obviously can't stay in LA. That team has at least 4 HOFers, and can't sniff the playoffs. Kobe takes up 50% of the salary cap, and they have no assets to improve. Their best selling point to him would be that they can offer LeBron a max in 2014, which as we all know isn't really much of a selling point (see Baron Davis LA Clippers (screwed by Brand)).

Basically the big markets Dwight can play in would be LA, or Dallas, and neither can offer a good shot at titles to him. Atlanta, and Cleveland would look much more attractive imo.

Re: 2012-2013 Trade Deadline Thread

If the Cavs are trying to get Bargs it's to also get a 1st round pick or Terrence Ross.

Re: 2012-2013 Trade Deadline Thread

If the Cavs are sniffing around Bargnani it better be because they are hungry and confuse him with a meatball sub.

Re: 2012-2013 Trade Deadline Thread

Bargnani is not the threat he looked like coming into the league. No longer does he have the dagger three point game. May be the cavs think irving could revitalize that. Otherwise I don't see anything in him I would like. Looking at his three balls he's shooting 30 percent. Terrence ross does look to have some nba potential. I don't think ross is worth bargnani's albatross. We;d be paying bargs 12 million in our 2014 window, lol.

I think you might be confused with Quinton Ross.

Terrence Ross has way more than "some" NBA potential.

TT does a lot for this team in the paint, a more consistent and possible serious deep threat could REALLY space the floor out for Kyrie, Dion, and TT. Who knows, maybe the Cavs intend to flip him to another team? I trust Grant to do what he feels improves this team.....

Also, I don't invision a scenario where Ross ends up in Cleveland.....
