Tyson Chandler to exercise ETO?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What's he making this year like 10 million? Well figure he has another injury plagued shitty year and I doubt he gets anything longterm, but maybe some team takes a chance and throws the MLE at him.

MLE for 4 or 5 years... 5 mill over 4 or 5 years or 10 mill?

Is it really that bad in Charlotte, under coach Brown and new owner Jordan? I'm surprised, especially considering there are a ton of better prospects out there in the massive 2010 FA period.

I wouldn't think so, but you never know. He could just be unhappy there.

Interesting bit here, but just out of curiosity am I the only one who thinks the MJ's Bobcats could try to angle to make a play at LeBron?

Chandler opts out and the Bobcats don't make an offer to Tyrus Thomas and they've got 9 or 10 million in cap room. Of course, they'd still need to clear 6 or 7 million more to even make LeBron an offer, difficult but not impossible.

Not saying it's going to happen, but Chandler opting out makes it at least possible the Bobcats and Jordan could try to make a desperate play for LeBron.

If they could use Captain Jack or Wallace to bring in a big and/or dump salary, they wouldn't be totally out of the picture. Both those two could look enticing to a team with salary cap room but locked out of the free agent picture.

Just a (scary) thought.

LeBron would never play for the Bobcats.

If he really is healthy, the Cavs would be dumb not to look real hard at him. He's nothing like Andy. Andy is a hustle/energy defender, Chandler is an athletic beast 7-footer who'll have one of the highest rebounding averages in the league and run the floor very well for a bigman - again, if healthy.

We know for a fact that the Cavs have had their eye on Chandler for a long time, before last offseason when we nearly traded for him. If he opts out, he does that because he knows he's healthy and he can prove it, so I would expect him to be very high on their target list.

I wouldn't mind a legit athletic 7 footer on this team.

Sign me up for Chandler.

Well one thing is for sure. We would have traded for Chandler if we couldnt do the Shaq trade last year. So someone liked him. Wouldnt be surprised if we pursued him again.

This sets up NYK's dream scenario when their top 13 targets all go elsewhere.

They can pair Chandler with Curry and pay them a combined $20M+ next year. Walsh has to be drooling! And to think they would have enough money left over to give Rudy Gay the max. Yikes!

Jamison Chandler tandem is a very good pair and if JJ improve his 15-18 foot jumpshot he will be a very good fit with AV. That's a monster frontline, IMO.

And your reasoning behind that?

First, in your scenario for him going there, they're dumping Stephen Jackson, not keeping Thomas..and wouldn't be able to keep Felton either.

Their line-up around him would include Gerald Wallace, Boris Diaw, Desagna Diop, Nazr Mohammed, and D.J. Augustin.

Terrible cast. Terrible place to play....he doesn't even like Larry Brown...

No idea how that would even be considered a real contender for him to go to. It makes literally no sense.

Also, let's not forget that Chandler originally signed this contract he's got in Chicago. I think he's probably a little upset that he was sent from there to NO (a slightly less attractive city), and then sent to Charlotte (a much less attractive city). I'd bet he signs in a New York, Chicago, or Miami type of area.

It's the only explanation that I can think of to explain why he would turn down 12.6 million, which he certainly won't get this summer, is he wants to get the hell out of Charlotte. He's only been in LA, Chicago, NO and Charlotte. Which of those definitely doesn't fit?

Games played wise the last two years he's played a total of 96 games. (45 and 51 respectively) Again, at this stage in the game i'm not sure i'd risk paying a guy like that unless we are all missing yelling about Larry Hughes missing games because of injuries.

Perhaps i'm pie in the skying here but i've got to imagine we can figure out something better and for a LOT cheaper. For the record, i'd take the Chandler from 05-08. These kind of guys, though skinny, active and lean tend to get beat down in this league with time on the court.

Imagine trading for bosh and then signing Chandler with the mle... jizz.
