Jigo, lol what if I said mine did too?

I'd ask if you were eating steamed oysters and spicy chili while drinking Shock Top at your party.

And then if you weren't...I'd go get checked out.

Facts are hard to overcome eh

I don't think Ohio State's secondary recruiting violations hold a candle to the CONSTANT shroud of scandal that is the SEC and USC.

For the most part, I don't think any devout follower of college football would look at Jim Tressel as unethical and immoral while coaching on a large stage.

The same could be said of very few other coaches in college football, and I think Mack Brown at Texas is probably another.

Lane Kiffin continues to be unethical as does Urban Meyer and too many others from that conference. And of course it doesn't only fall on the coach, but a school's boosters as well, which is virtually impossible to stop.

Did you ever think OSU ranks the highest in secondary recruiting violations because they actually REPORT them to the NCAA?

I don't see SEC teams falling all over themselves to report these most petty violations...but you know full well it happens.

Never heard of Tressel telling a top recruit "God sent me a vision of coaching you on the sideline" to convince him to come to their school. :chuckles:

Anyone who thinks Kiffin and the SEC aren't shady as fuck probably simply condones all the crap they do.

Wow glad to see no one has any bias against the SEC. I love Ohio State, but to act like they are some sort of Mother Teresa when it comes to recruiting is ridiculous.

OSU has Ohio locked down, and it isn't just because of all the National Championships they have been racking up. I hate Urban Meyer too, but that doesn't make him any dirtier than everyone else. I've known some guys that have been on the Florida recruiting radar. Urban Meyer lets you hold one of his big old crystal balls before asking if you want to be a Gator.

Until I hear about Tressel doing shit like what I detailed above, I'll maintain he is a better man than Meyer.

I'm not saying osu is any better any worse than any other school in America. My only point is that osu is unethical and breaks rules just like all the other schools in the NCAA. To think otherwise is just flat out dumb.

As others recently replied, the op that claimed only the sec and USC are unehtical is obviously a moron and just doesn't want to believe facts.

But it doesn't change the fact that he is unethical and breaks rules just like Meyer. Should
I think any less of a guy that committed manslaughter versus a guy that committed murder?? They are both felonies, they both ended with a person dead, but since it wasn't as extreme as the other, it makes it ok??

Breaking the rules is breaking the rules. There's no shades of gray there. It's black and white.

Not sure I agree there, but I think it's moot. The story is about the recruitment of a 13 year old, which I believe is wrong.

(I also dont think you addressed b00bie's points very well, but again, all moot in the end)

If you're idea of unethical is having secondary recruiting violations and reporting them to the NCAA then that's fine.

My idea of unethical is building a recruiting class around a defensive coordinator brought in to replace Charlie Strong at Florida, only to see him leave for the NFL just 72 hours after signing day.

My idea of unethical is calling kids committed to UT and telling them not to go to class and wait for USC to offer up their pitch.

My idea of unethical is calling another coach out over a potential recruit and blatantly committing a violation just to get your name on Sportscenter.

My idea of unethical is calling a kid and telling him "God sent me a vision of coaching you on the sideline."

Our opinions of unethical differ, and that's fine....

But Urban Meyer and Lane Kiffin are BOTH unethical, and there are other coaches who fall into the same category.

Again, I have never said that kiffin is an ethical coach. I said recruiting a 13 year old is not unethical.

I wasn't the one flapping away about nobody else besides the sec and kiffin are unethical. A recruiting violation is breaking the rules. If breaking the rules is ethical, then I guess you are right, tressel, osu and the other conferences are good to go.

They all do it. Just the way it is.

Then we just disagree, if you think recruitment of kids barely hitting puberty is a perfectly fine and moral practice.

Definitely agree that a kid shouldn't be able to commit until he can at least drive a car to the college of his choice. USC is by far the sketchiest school as far as recruits go, and they found the perfect guy in Kiffin.

Unfortunately I don't see how the SEC became the root of all evils in some people's minds. I'm more interested in how Meyer convinces so many of his players to commit to 4 years when they have good money waiting for them in the NFL. Imagine if Stafford and Moreno played for my dawgs in the 09-10 season with new an improved AJ Green . Looking forward to another year with an unproven QB at UGA throwing to one of the best receivers in the country...

Sorry, it isn't right, and almost everybody will agree with that statement. Let these kids be kids. This is stupid.
Regards,
Every other sport in the world. Do you have issues with international kids being signed at the age of 13, 14, 15 years old? What about Jr. Circuit hockey players at the age of 9, 10? Agassi started when he was 5 I believe. It's present in every single sport.

Is this supposed to convince me otherwise, or just further validate my point?
