Week 7 2018 | Browns @ Tampa Bay

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The most pathetic part is that this team is completely and totally dependent on a rookie quarterback in his 4th game to stay competitive
That’s weird. That QB Guru Cowherd said that Baker was holding the team back.
I mean, Darnold is outplaying him and all. You know?

Darnold played worse today than Mayfield has played in any game this season. A 5.9 QBR.

I still like him though.

According to the Vegas sports book, that's another moral victory for the Cleveland Browns. We are among the league's best at forcing teams not to cover. Next step is learning how to close the deal. This thread looks at everything as "keg half empty". Hey, the Browns took on the best young OC in the NFL and the best passing offense of the year statistically - and forced them into some mistakes. The defense did bend at times, but they didn't break. Nick Chubb showed off why he deserves to be the starter in Cleveland at running back. This keg is half full and I'm still drinking.

I'm VERY optimistic about the future of the team because of the players they already have and the guy they have in charge of finding the players.

The coaching stinks. Plain and simple.

The sooner this entire staff is shipped out, the better off everyone will be.

Weird thing to post on a day Mayfield had zero turnovers, right?

That fumbled ball that went backwards out of bounds was a turnover on downs.

I work Sundays so was strictly going by what someone told me which is he turned it over 4 times. Guess that was wrong.

I will never understand why the NFL puts up with shitty officiating. All they do is issue apologies and never do anything about it.

League makes plenty of money - pay people to do this job full time and fire those that are affiliated with this lazy ass union that enables the shitty job these referees do week in and week out.

I'm sick and tired of questionable officiating that seriously raises questions to the legitimacy of game outcomes.

The league has been hit with a lot of retirements from referees the past few years. Many have moved into jobs making the call on challenges or explaining calls for a network. I do agree something has to be done about the current quality of the inexperienced ref teams.

0 turnovers from Mayfield.

Browns only had 1 turnover, a fumble by Peppers on a punt return.

Bucs had four turnovers.

4 turnovers and we lose.

The offense and special teams are a huge problem. I'd be in favor of letting Haley go at the bye week. I don't know what can be done about a special teams coach, who knows if Sam Shade is ready to take over for Amos or if he would even be an upgrade.

The defense is playing exceptionally well and functions at a different level than it did two years ago. This was previously a team that drafted to stop the run and got torched in the air. While Tampa put up some impressive yardage numbers in the air, the Browns got after Winston, forced him to leave the pocket and forced some errors. I'd happily trade Haley for Todd Monken as a play caller.

Against an offense that I highly respected, Williams had a good plan and the players had overall strong execution. The one I want back is the pass to set the 59 yard field goal. That wasn't scheme, that was execution.

I do believe the youth of the roster gets a free pass on making some dumb inexperienced type mistakes while the coaches get practically all the blame. It's just not completely accurate. The good news is that these young players, when healthy, are improving through the season.

It will be amazing how fast this thing turns with one more good draft, and shit canning this staff.

This is not the old Browns. They still have some bad weight holding them back, but it will be gone by the end of the year.
