Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
On fearthesword they posted that team defense is better with him on the floor. Allowing just 107 a game. He keeps the opposing team from getting layups, but the coaching staff is worried he is gonna get burnt on the pick and roll, but I don't get that because TT and Nance are allowing a lot of layups

I feel like that stat is most likely misleading. Zizic really only plays during garbage time, either against scrubs or 2nd units that don't need to try very hard.

Better than the guys that play in garbage time and still don't have good def-rating. Doesn't mean he is a good defender yet, but he isn't the detriment the Coaching staff thinks he is. Even a slightly good defender helps this team. For that matter a big who can score is a big need we have right now. Either way, he shoudl be getting consistent minutes.

I guess it is almost impossible to hurt this defense too lol

I definitely agree with that! They should be playing him as much as he can handle. He does still get gassed out there pretty quickly. I get that maybe more minutes would play him into shape, but shouldn't you be in that kind of shape your 2nd year in the league?

I think he played more than 12 minutes in a row last night. He definitely got tired, but it may have made him better.

Too funny !!!!! Happy you don't evaluate talent for a living.
Yes, my ability to read numbers on a box score and post them accurately would indeed impair my judgment when it comes to evaluating talent.

Could've been a lot worse going up against the DPOY. He's a lot closer to being a respectable NBA player than Cedi or Sexton, though that's not saying much. Hope we invest more in him the second half of the season.

Tough night. Lots of miscommunication .

No one could hit a shot and everyone looked tired. Classic thin air Utah game

Zizic is such a different player than TT and Nance, that none of their playbook really translates to him. He has such a better post game than both TT and Nance but that mean you have to get the ball to him in the paint. Getting the ball out high really does nothing for the offense with him.

Even the alley-oops and pocket passes don't seem to work with Zizics game. He really is a on the ground and feet set kind of player. When plays ask him to be quick with his feet or jump for the ball, it's really outside of where he will be effective. Even when he is setting screens you can see that anything that involves alot of quick resetting of screens just gets him out of position. Sexton actually realize late in the game that Zizic is perfect to wall off players to get shots up at the 3 pt line.

The bench was starting to understand how to play with him, especially Delly and Payne. It was a disservice to him last night to play him with the starters especially against Gobert. They really need to develop him with the second unit just so everyone has a better understanding of what he can and can't do.

He want rolling hard. The starters tried to get him the ball in the roll but he wasn't there. He can definitely do what they wanted, he wasn't in the right spot. He stopped short just inside the free throw line a few times when he should have been following the ball handler to the rim. It sucked because that was maybe 8 points at a crucial time he left on the table. He was left alone and it allowed Gobert to stay attached to the ball handler .

He blew it being ready for the ball basically. He got it going later. That was a good experience for him. If he builds on it it will be ok .

I think he is so used to not getting the ball on the roll...

I agree he definitely isn't use to getting the ball on the roll. The guards haven't figured out a place where he is comfortable getting the ball on the roll yet. Too low and he fumbles the ball. Too high and he just doesn't have the lift to go up and get it.

He did show last year that he can be effective if you get him the ball on he roll just over his head and he can just use his length to lay the ball in. Which is exactly the opposite of where TT and/or Nance likes the ball.

We really need to start a drinking game on the game thread when Zizic picks Clarkson's man and Clarkson's defender switches onto Zizic and Zizic calls for the ball and then Clarkson looks at him, ignores him and shoots a step back 3. I'm surprised Zizic hasn't murdered Clarkson yet.

yeah Channing brought it up in the post game interview. He was talking about how the 2nd unit isn't used to playing with him, and the 1st doesn't know how to play with Zizic.

No surprise Zizic did better when Gobert wasn't in, but he was also playing with Delly and Payne at the end of the game. I sort of hope that TT doesn't come back tonight so Zizic can play with those guys again and maybe build some chemistry
